I
n writing this letter, I am at-
tempting to freeze time and take
a snapshot of an organization
that is in constant motion. Its like
trying to sketch an athlete running
the 100m. However, that will not
stop me from trying. AIESEC Yales
evolution this past year has shown
to be fruitful and faithful to the up-
ward trajectory weve been traveling
on.

AIESEC Yales performance vali-
dates the approach we have toward
continued growth focusing on our
stakeholders, delivering compelling
cultural experiences, and running a
strong and effcient business. Today
our management and leadership
has grown dramatically in numbers,
skill level, and experience. These in-
dividuals have and will continue to
drive the revitalization of exchange.
More importantly, our commitment
to the quality of experiences that we
offer our stakeholdersmembers,
exchange participants, and part-
nersis as strong as ever. Our 2012
team worked relentlessly over the
past year to make these experiences
even more accessible, and much of
our progress has come in areas that
arent transparent in the numbers.
Instead, they are in the experiences
of our partners, the growth of our
local committee, and the satisfac-
tion of our exchange participants. In
summary, we have added another
layer to the foundation that will help
AIESEC Yale succeed for years to
come.

In the case of AIESEC Yale, evo-
lution isnt the result of natural
selection. It comes from talking with
our consumers and serving stake-
holders. It comes from the bright,
passionate people who make and
manage the AIESEC productsex-
change and leadership development.
It comes from those magic moments
that reaffrm the sanctity of chal-
lenging young people.

The intern, terrifed to travel her
frst days in the unpredictable me-
tropolis of Nairobi, learns to enjoy
matatu rides and the upbeat culture
of the Kibera slums. The student
from Taiwan who few to North
America, excited at the opportunity
to work in an American company,
and went on to tough out the unfa-
miliar American driving style. The
freshman who originally joined
too many organizations, who goes
on to dedicate himself to the Local
Committee and is now satisfactorily
managing a team of sixteen other
students.

These are the incremental moments
in the evolution of human potential
that AIESEC Yale dedicates itself to,
and I feel privileged to be witness to
them.

This report is a summary of the
story of AIESEC Yale in 2012. On
behalf of AIESEC Yale, Id like to ex-
tend our gratitude to our exchange
partners, sponsors, alumni, Board
of Advisors, and the thousands of
members of AIESEC globally who
inspire us and support us year after
year. Stay with AIESEC Yale as we
continue to evolve and strive for the
peace and fulfllment of human-
kinds potential.
Sincerely yours,
LINDA SEWNARINE

I
n the frst half of 2012, we saw
an incoming class of three new
members, two of whom went
on to become team leaders. In
February, two TNs were raised
with Photronics, a photo-mask
manufacturing company based
in Brookfeld. We also saw the
end of two previous TNs, EPs
Patty and Ivan from England and
Venezuala respectively. With the
latter half of 2012, we welcomed
in a class of nine newies and
three oldies! ICX doubled in size,
and with it came multiple work
sessions a week - we had every
newie participate in a business
meeting or networking event.
Chia-Cheng, Photronics TN,
was also brought in from Taiwan.
Later in the term we made a last
second raise with SmartStart,
which was not realized. With
the end of 2012 came our
offcial registration with the
Greater New Haven Chamber of
Commerce, as well as structural
reorganization of the team by
the incoming VP ICX - Attila. The
new team structure and returning
oldies have contributed to the
fastest growing team, and has
already shown great results. ICX
has a bright future, especially
under the leadership of the bright
and enthusiastic new VP!

n 2012, the Outgoing Ex-
change Team was driven by a
commitment to providing high-
quality internship experiences
for students at Yale and nearby
universities in the Northeast.

To prepare for 2012, we es-
tablished communication with
local committees in Asia, Africa,
Latin America and Europe and
identifed partner committees
that would provide internships
for Yale students. These efforts
were led by our three regional
team leaders, Anna Blazej-
owskyj (South America and
Africa), Victor Liao (Asia), and
Korn Lapprathana (Europe). In
2012, we offered over 80 sum-
mer internships positions to our
applicants.

Additionally, we strengthened
our partnership with Undergrad-
uate Career Services by partner-
ing with them on their program
in Istanbul, Turkey and working
closely with the UCS Director of
International Internships to pilot
a summer program in Brazil.
Over the summer, 3 Yale stu-
dents participated in AIESEC
programs in Brazil.

In April, we selected 3 new team
directors to refect a strategic
shift towards customer service
and customer segmentation.
Ling Li, Director of Quality,
organized an Intern Preparation
seminar that was attended by all
of our interns. In addition, each
intern was paired with a match-
ing buddy from the Outgoing
Exchange Team who maintained
contact with the intern through-
out the summer. AIESEC Yale
welcomed our interns back to
school with a Welcome back to
America! party and launched
our new AIESEC Abroad Am-
bassador program. We hope
to learn from the feedback we
received from our Interns to im-
prove the service we provide to
students and to leverage our 4
AIESEC Abroad Ambassadors to
promote our internship program.

Additionally, our Director of Part-
nerships, Ivana Ilic, created an
offcial partnership package that
we sent to AIESEC Local Com-
mittee all over the world. After
interviewing members of the 43
local committees that expressed
interest in partnering with AIE-
SEC Yale, we established of-
fcial partnerships with 18 local
committees for 2013. Finally, our
Director of Matching, Ace Isidro,
has been strengthening our
matching service for students
who are looking for longer-term
opportunities and will be continu-
ing to do so in 2013.

We were very excited to send 12
Yale students abroad this sum-
mer and look forward to growing
our internship program by focus-
ing on quality of experiences
and partnerships.

talEnt managEmEnt
O
ver the course of the
year, AIESEC Yale saw
vast improvements in
the the quality of recruitment,
the systems put in place for
tracking, the organization of
trainings, the social cohesion of
the Local Committee, and the
connection our LC had with the
AIESEC global network.
Major Accomplishments
outrEach to @ nEtwork:

The Talent Management team
brought in a CEED (Cultural
Envoy for Exchange and Devel-
opment) each semester to better
acquaint our members with the
AIESEC network and to strength-
en our partnerships. We initiated
a Pen Pal system in which mem-
bers were paried with interna-
tional AIESECers We also sent
nine members to international
conferences and an additional
three members on exchange.
The Talent Management team
has placed a premium on making
full circle AIESEC experinces for
our members which includes an
international AIESEC experience.
trackIng PErformancE:

The Talent Management Team
set up an Experience Manag-
ers (XPMs) Program where
more experienced older mem-
bers serve as XPMs for new
members. Through regularly
planned meetings, XPMs serve
as a source of mentorship they
make sure that newies are well
informed of various opportuni-
ties in the LC and rest of the
network, answer questions and
provide guidance on AIESEC-
related matters, and help mold
their AIESEC experiences. In ad-
dition to this, XPMs track prog-
ress within the AIESEC system
with a specifc set of questions.
EnhancED tranIng Plan:

Each team has a set of stan-
dardized LC trainings based on
our travels and other advice.
This greatly shortened the learn-
ing curve for our new members
and allowed us to begin opera-
tions much sooner.Throughout
the LCM cycle for the year, we
covered different sales skills,
AIESEC knowledge and team
trainings relevant to AIESEC
and general life skills. We even
incorporated Alumni Training to
include sales simulation with our
Board of Advisors, cold calling
training with an alumni and how
to make the AIESEC experience
applicable outside of AIESEC.

areas:

In addition to the beautiful fyers
and posters we designed for events
and information sessions, MPR also
worked on various sales and partner-
ship packages to support ICX, OGX
and Finance.
2. PARTNERSHIPS
We looked to partner AIESEC Yale with impor-
tant organizations within the Yale community.
In addition to our long-standing partnership
with Undergraduate Career Services, we
reached out to 13 academic departments and
many more on-campus organizations, such as
The Globalist and YHHAP.
3. ALUMNI
We are developing an extensive database
of past AIESEC alumni in an effort to main-
tain our committee history and to establish
a newsletter. With help from the Association
of Yale Alumni, we expect this newsletter to
be up and running sometime in the upcom-
ing year.
4. SOCIAL MEDIA
This year, we redesigned the
website to improve functional-
ity and aesthetics. We are also
looking to expand our pres-
ence on other social media
outlets. But with 1912 likes on
our Facebook page and 186
followers on Twitter not to
mention the skilled hands of
Marina Addams, our new VP
we expect that our online expo-
sure will skyrocket in 2013.

fInancE
2012 was a great year for the Finance
team in AIESEC Yale. We started the
long process of overhauling our stan-
dards and practices and really made im-
portant strides in the direction of making
the Finance team a contributing member
to the AIESEC Yale experience. In the
frst half of 2012, we made some limited
efforts to pursue sponsorships with local
small businesses in the Yale community
and developed a sponsorship package
for usage on sales calls. In addition to
this we also began ordering our affairs
to ensure that we were fully utilizing the
range of funding opportunities offered to
us by the Yale community to enable to
the LC to maximize its exchange pros-
pects. In the second half of the year we
embarked on some ambitious projects
with the Harvard-Yale T-shirt sales and
a major accounting system transition,
successfully completing both. Although
we fell a bit short of our overall fundrais-
ing goal for the year, the Finance team
still made remarkable improvements over
2012 and hopes to continue this energy
under a new VP for 2013.

AIESEC Yale hosted the NorthEast Beast Re-
gional Orientation Kickoff Seminar in Stamford,
CT. The Organizing Committee was led by Anna
Blazejowskyj. Christy Wong, Daryl Hok and
Linda Lai also were conference leaders. Having
just accepted 35 new members into AIESEC
Yale, we thought it was extremely important
that all new members received their frst AIE-
SEC conference experience at RoKS. Thus, we
subsidized the delegate fees for all of our new
members to attend RoKS. In total, 35 members
attended RoKS, including 18 new members.
In March, eight AIESEC Yale members traveled to
Vienna, Austria for the Western Europe and North
America Leadership Development Seminar inter-
national conference. They received training from
Member Committee members and formed friend-
ships and partnerships with over 200 conference
delegates. The Yale delegation also visited two
local committees in Budapest, Hungary as well as
the local committee in Osijek, Croatia. Students
returned with expanded international networks,
insights into how local committees operate and a
passion to help our local committee succeed.
In December, nine members from AIESEC Yale
traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the annual
Winter National Conference. There, we attended
sessions directly related to our functional core
teams and leadership development as a whole.
Additionally, as a full member of AIESEC US, the
Yale local committee cast a vote in the Member
Committee President Election.

Letter from the President
W
hat is AIESEC? is a
question I get asked
very often. I always
pause for a second before answer-
ing this question, not because I
need to freshen up my French
accent before saying Association
internationale des tudiants en
sciences conomiques et com-
merciales, but because there are
so many ways to answer such a
simple question. Yes, AIESEC is a
french acronym that came to be-
ing in response to World War II.
AIESEC is also the largest student-
run organization in the world.
AIESEC is present in 113 countries
and has a network of over 86,000
members. In 2012, AIESEC created
20,378 International Exchange
experiences and 78,828 leadership
experiences for students all over
the world. However, for me these
numbers and facts are only a con-
sequence of what AIESEC is. AIE-
SEC is a leadership development
platform that enables students to
become leaders who leave a posi-
tive impact on our world. AIESEC
is unique because our network is
composed of students and alumni
who challenge themselves every
single day to be better leaders and
better citizens of the world. I am
honored to be able to call myself an
AIESECer.

In 2012, AIESEC Yale was driven
by a ferce commitment to deliv-
ering quality experiences for our
stakeholders. Resonating through-
out this annual report are instances
of how we have built upon the
foundations for success established
in 2011 to provide exceptional
customer service to our members,
exchange participants, business
connections, partners, and alumni.
Now, as we continue into 2013,
AIESEC Yale is a local committee
on the rise. In 2013, we will drive
exchange growth and member
development by capitalizing on the
progress that was made in 2012.
I am confdent that the combined
energy and passion of all of our
members will propel us to reach
our full potential in 2013.

Of course, the heights that AIESEC
Yale reaches in 2013 are made
possible by the hard work and
contributions of those who have
worked with AIESEC Yale over the
years. Thus, wed like to thank you
for your commitment to helping
us create worthwhile and impact-
ful AIESEC experiences. We hope
that you continue to follow us on
our journey towards realizing our
full potential as a local committee
so that we can contribute to the
enormous impact that AIESEC has
on this world every year.
Sincerely,
