The Jerrabomberra Fair is on again and the weatherman has promised a sunny day! Preparations are well advanced for what is shaping up to be another great fair at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre. The date is locked in for Saturday 23 March and many vendors and stalls have already booked their sites. So what is on for offer to the local community? As with past years, activities commence on the evening of Friday 22 March, with an invitation-only cocktail party to open the Jerrabomberra Rotary and Bendigo Bank Art Show and unveil the work by many local artists. The art show will then be open to all comers on the day of the fair, Saturday, 23 March, and the artworks can be purchased at that time. Other activities occurring on the Saturday include the usual great entertainment and fun that Jerrabomberra Rotary and their supporters provide at their Annual Autumn Fair. This year will see the customary assortment of rides for the children, great local and interstate entertainers, the infamous fishing competition to find that fish, an all-day BBQ, home bakes, vendors selling a variety of goods, and an enormous collection of pre-loved books to buy and while away a Sunday afternoon. So come along, enjoy the day with your family, neighbours and friends, wandering around the various stalls, entertaining the children, or buying art for that empty wall at home. Alternatively, just sit by the water to munch a meal and watch the fun while being entertained. Better still, lie back and read a book purchased from one of the stalls. The fair will run from 9am through to 2pm with a full program of events and activities. So whether you drop in for breakfast, morning tea or lunch, dont miss a great day to enjoy yourself and be involved with this community event.
Our district will welcome a group of World peace Fellows for a visit to Canberra Saturday 27 April - Tuesday 30. April for their visit to Canberra. This is a special group of 11 young people who are funded by Rotary International to study at the University of Queensland to become active leaders in peace keeping and conflict resolution. They come from many countries and we will show them Australia's Capital and organise professional visits to organisations in Canberra. On Monday 29. April we will hold a special Peace Dinner where you can meet all of them and hear their stories, learn about their positive experience from across the world and their ambitions. This is a very uplifting occasions and will be very popular as a special event in our calendar. Please note it on your diary - all Rotarians are invited. Please consider becoming a host during their time with us. You will be amazed by their adventures and enthusiasm for a peaceful future. If you can billet one or more fellows for the 3 nights please contact one of us. Hans Bachor hans.bachor@anu.edu.au Garth Britton garth.britton@netspeed.com.au
