South facing windows South facing windows get little or no direct sun, and can be used to maximise natural light and save electric lights. To maximise insulation and keep heat in during winter, select double glazing with clear glass on the outside and Low E glass on the inside. East facing windows East facing windows get lots of morning sun in winter and summer. Because the sun is low in the sky, it is very difcult to shade the windows without obscuring the view and the natural light. In winter an east facing window will lose heat during the second half of the day. To compensate for these effects, choose InsulVue double glazing with high light transmission and high heat elimination. The ideal solution is a unit with a CoolVue coating on the outside and an E Range Low E glass on the inside. A lower cost compromise is to use E Range instead of CoolVue for the outer glass.

COATINGS
SmartGlass InsulVue double glazing is available with laminated and toughened safety glass, and various coating options. The coatings you select will depend on where the InsulVue units will be installed. CoolVue coatings let in up to 70% of visible light while blocking more than 50% of solar heat. E Range coatings (Low E and Solar E) offer outstanding thermal insulation all year round. Solarshield reective coatings are designed for maximum solar heat control. SolarVue coatings provide medium solar control and a neutral, low-reective appearance.
