Morrissey saved from death but told to stop touring

Having cancelled 19 dates earlier this year, Morrissey returned to his tour in March, only to be diagnosed with double pneumonia. Doctors have now cautioned the former Smiths frontman against continuing to tour Louise Cohen, The Times Published at 1:20PM, March 22 2013 Morrissey has been saved from death after his recent string of medical conditions, but his doctors have told him to stop touring, the former Smiths frontman revealed today. Speaking on a Mexican radio station, the singer, who earlier this month was forced once again to cancel tour dates when he was hospitalised for double pneumonia, said that he had had a very bad time, as doctors tried to patch [him] together. It almost became absurd, the number of things that happened to me, he told the Reactor 105.7 radio station, everything was a result of the fact that I had lost so much blood...I was on a lot of IV drips for almost five weeks, and each time it seemed as though I was back to robust health I would decline.

In January, Morrissey, 53, cancelled 19 US tour dates due to a bleeding ulcer and the condition Barretts oesophagus. He resumed the tour in February with several sell-out concerts, before having to cancel further dates when he was diagnosed with pneumonia in both lungs. I saw the doctors and they said, no no no no, you cannot, because I had lost so much blood and I had became anemic. Immune defenses were very low and couldnt cope with anything, so therefore the slightest gust of wind and I would have a terrible cold. He went on to say that he is receiving continuing treatment and is now very optimistic about his recovery. Ive seen doctors constantly and Ive been on many IV drips for a long time, so hopefully, hopefully, hopefully, I will be saved from death. The singer has now been cautioned not to continue touring and, said that his medical bills had soaked up all of his insurance. Ive been cautioned to but its difficult for me because its very engrained within me that when you tour and when you make music and when you sing, it is actually the best thing you can do in life. He added later that he felt immense sorrow at having to cancel gigs: The pain I felt was just incredible, I just hope to God I can make it up to people, so Im sitting here wondering how. It seems that it wont be with a Smiths reunion, however. People forget that I did not break up the Smiths... Its been a very long time, and the truth is, we dont know each other, were not friends. We have no links in our lives now... I dont see the point. If Im so happy singing now, why would I want to play with strangers? Morrissey also added to his previous claims that he has written a lot of new songs but cant find a record label: I dont get approached by ANYBODY to record, so nothing ever happens really. So I wait, and I wait, and then I wait in order to wait, so here I am, sitting here waiting.
