Vietnam Salary Survey 2012
Thegovernments effort to enforce tighter controls on credit ratings affected SMEs, particularly those that were Vietnamese-owned. We saw strong demand for talented and experienced sales professionals, particularly from the manufacturing and pharmaceutical sectors, while marketing specialists were frequently hired by FMCG and advertising companies. Demand for HR professionals remained strong, with learning, organisation development and HR business partners recruited as companies sought to improve the effectiveness of their workforce. Accountancy and finance recruitment was relatively buoyant at all levels, particularly within the pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, financial services, FMCG and IT sectors. Individuals possessing aproven track record within areputable organisation and business partnering experience were in significant demand.
The retail banking sector grew rapidly in 2011 where the supply of job seekers was not able tomeet demand. As a result, firms increasingly looked to attract talent from Malaysia forthese roles. Given the relatively shallow pool of experienced Vietnamese candidates, sourcing suitable professionals became increasingly challenging through 2011. Withthe Vietnamese government setting a target for GDP growth of 7% each year and seeking to increase labour productivity by 1.5 times by 2015, we anticipate the development of a highly skilled workforce becoming a key priority across the country.
