Last Call for Carver Elementary School Back Packs - A collection box marked Carver Elementary School remains available in the Cross & Crown narthex through Saturday, March 30--OR, if you prefer, checks may be written to EFD for Carver Back Packs. Cash received or checks so designated will be channeled through Harvest Hope, for greater purchasing power, but will still go to Carver School. Visit from Bishop vonRosenberg scheduled for Sunday, April 7 - Please help to provide a bounteous welcome to Bishop Charles G. vonRosenberg and his wife Annie when they visit EFD next Sunday. Following the 4 p.m. service with the Bishop as celebrant, a Covered Dish Supper will be held in the Parish Hall. EFD will provide Fried Chicken and beverages. Others are asked to bring side dishes or desserts. Hospitality Chair Rebecca Alford (bec1164@aol.com or 843-332-0650) is coordinating plans and would appreciate being informed what people plan to bring in order to provide adequate space (and chicken!). More about the Bishop, fyi... - A native of Fayetteville, NC, Bishop Charles G. vonRosenberg was graduated from the University of North Carolina prior to entering Virginia Theological Seminary where he earned his master of divinity degree. Ordained as a priest in 1975, he served as vicar and rector of churches in Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina. As rector of the Church of the Resurrection in Greenwood, SC, and later, as Canon to the Ordinary (assistant to the Bishop), vonRosenberg served for many years in the Diocese of Upper South Carolina before accepting a call to be rector of St. James Episcopal Church, Wilmington, NC. As Third Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of East Tennessee, he oversaw an area of 34 counties in Tennessee and three in North Georgia, with 45 congregations and five worshiping communities and nearly 16,000 active members. Bishop vonRosenberg served in the House of Bishops and as ex officio member of the board of trustees of the University of the South before being elected to its board of regents. In 2008 he attended the Lambeth Conference and participated with other bishops in a Walk of Witness through central London to draw attention to the Millennium Development Goals, which target poverty reduction around the world. -------------------------------Contributors, please note- Checks may now be made out directly to EFD or Episcopalians of the Florence Deanery.
