LIFE…

the book of life will bear no resemblance

to the dompas, vampire chronicles, bible, quran, torah, bagavat gita, art of war, mills &
boons, I ching, kama sutra, perfumed garden, encyclopaedia brittanica, oxford
dictionary, constitution, tao of jeet kun do, theory of relativity, human rights charter, or
marvel comics.
it will fuel bonfires in the coldest hearts
the book of life will not
be written in the words of god, man or et.
publishing houses won’t distribute it.
so it will not be listed in your local library, bookstore or newsagent
it will not become a bestseller.
but it will fan the hottest heads.

the soundtrack of life will not be scored,

using scales, tones & notes.
the jarring sound of the choristers will be fed
by the straining voices of the ancestors,
trying to grasp the remnants of space and time to be heard.
no metronome will be employed,
to ensure perfect timing
for off beat rhyming.
the best of days will not be highlighted by the soulful drone,
of the brass section, playing augmented cords to signify a climax.
there will be no break in the grungy beat,
boxed acoustically and arranged to explore a full vocal range.

the painting of life will not be graded,

according to the shades, colours and textures (ab)used in it’s creation.
the canvas for this master piece will be made from patches of skin -
from all those who have gone before us - left as signs.
cgi won’t be (ab)used to (re)create the hotchpotched image of life’s (in)sanity.
there will be no exhibition, with daily viewings for t(er)ourists and aficionados
because, galleries won’t display life’s true panorama,
instead opting to further obscure it’s already blurred vista.

the motion picture of life will not be scrutinized

according to industry norms and standards,
it is non-conformist.
life (the movie) will not be reviewed on talk shows, in magazines and newspapers.
it will not be classified in any genre, because
life encompasses all and sundry.
life will not be nominated for a movie of the year award.
it will not be based on a true story,
the film will be a complete figment of the image-nation (read imagination)
all the characters will be based on and played by real people.
life will not be televised,
laser beamed to satellite decoders or
digitally (re)mastered and streamed via the internet.

at birth it will be hand carved onto your corneal membrane, pupil and shutter fitted retina
and just in case you think of closing your eyes to escape it
life will be embossed onto the insides of you eyelids
to haunt you for the rest of your life
