Noun 1. 2. Steadfastness in doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success. Continuance in a state of grace leading finally to a state of glory.

The central goal of our spiritual lives is one we will never fully achieve in this life. We must continue to move forward, growing in knowledge of Christ and becoming more like him, in confidence that the day will come when we will be made complete in heaven. Phil 3:4-16 1. What sort of alignment do you see between this passage and your own struggles to follow Christ? What accomplishments did Paul leave behind? v4-6 How did leaving them behind help him pursue Christ? v7-9 What constitutes garbage in Pauls mind? What things in your life would be garbage? As an alternative, what are we supposed to pursue? How would a person show up when this was happening? vv10-12, 15 Why is it so hard to forget what is behind us and yet strain toward what is ahead? Why do you think both aspects are wrapped up in Pauls One thing? Whats harder for you? What does it mean to live up to what we have already attained? v16 How can we as brothers encourage you to press on?
