Skyline is a Place for Discovery and Development, Awakening the Mind, Building Self-Confidence and Making Friends
Situated in a rural area of southern Lapeer County, Michigan, Skyline Camp and Retreat Center has been capably shaping young minds, strengthening bodies and building character since 1964. Skyline began as a summer camp for children and youth, under the direction of the First Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, Michigan. Thousands of young people have since experienced Camp Skyline, and many more have benefited from youth retreats and seminars. From the beginning, adult groups discovered Skyline to be the perfect place for occasional retreats, meetings, study and fellowship. So, in 1991, Skyline began a year-round schedule to accommodate youth and adult programs as well as summer campers. As a result, it has become a regional center for nature appreciation, communication enhancement and spiritual growth. Keeping Skyline running smoothly is a veteran team an visionary executive director and a largely part-time staff for food preparation, housekeeping and maintenance. The 156-acre property has several forest groves, a large pond and abundant wildlife a wilderness treasure trove. As such, Skyline leaders are dedicated to ongoing environmental stewardship.
There are a number of other ways to make an intentional gift to Skyline. All provide tax advantages to the donor, and many can be designed to return cash as well.

Permanent Fund
A donor can make a gift to a permanent fund, similar to the Skyline Endowment Fund. Gifts to this fund are invested, and some of the income earned is made available to Skyline annually. A gift to this fund provides the donor with a charitable tax deduction, but the greatest benefit is knowing that the gift will provide a long-lasting source of funds for Skyline. Two lesser known gifting plans might be appropriate under some circumstances:

Life Insurance
Life insurance. Did you know that you can name Skyline as the owner and/or beneficiary of a life insurance policy? You can make a charitable contribution with very little cost to you. Making an irrevocable gift of life insurance also can provide substantial tax benefits. A life insurance policy that has cash value but no longer meets your needs could make a convenient gift.
Outright Gifts
Skyline welcomes gifts of cash, stock, bonds or other securities and real property. Real estate may be donated to a charity using various methods, one of which is the gift of a retained life estate. You could deed your residence to Skyline or another charity and still use the property for your personal residence for the remainder of your and your spouses life, or for a specified period. There are significant tax advantages to this type of gift. When giving cash, check with your employer to see if the company has a matching grant program that can double the effect of your gift. All gifts will, of course, be gratefully acknowledged.
