ILLINOIS EVENT CALENDAR


April 6th Vedic Cultural Society invites all members of the public to celebrate the festival of colors, Holi. Throw handful of brightly colored powder at friends to recognize the holiday. Holi announces the passing of winter and the arrival of spring. Bags of organic, safe, dry colors will be offered for a small donation of $2 each. The event will take place at Naperville Riverwalk located in Naperville, IL at 11am. April 6th Bihar Cultural Association of North America presents Holi Milan 2013 at Meadows Corporate Center located at 2850 Golf Rd. in Rolling Meadows, IL from 6-10pm. There will be a cultural program, good Indian food and open dance floor with DJ. April 11th - 13th To celebrate 100 years of Indian cinema, there will be a conference at the Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago to celebrate 100 years of Indian Cinema. Famous Indian filmmaker, Mr. Adoor Gopalakrishnan has been invited to attend the conference. April 13th Become a citizen for free! There will be a citizenship workshop from 9am to 12pm at St. Isidore Catholic Church located at 427 W. Army Trail Rd. in Bloomingdale, IL. There will be free assistance to complete the application for naturalization, free legal consultation with an immigration attorney and free study materials to help you prepare for the test and interview. Learn to speak confidently about Hindu Dharma. Learn why dharma is not a religion, why Bhagavan is not god, yoga is not faith and much more. This event will be presented by bestselling author and speaker, Jeffrey Armstrong and Kavindra Rishi. April 26th Sahil and L.A. Tan presents Krazy 2 featuring Ali Zafar and Sunidhi Chauhan at the Sears Centre located at 5333 Prairie Stone Parkway in Hoffman Estates, IL at 8:30pm. WatchESPN now available to AT&T U-verse customers


Subscribers can live stream ESPN networks on computers, smartphones, tablets and Xbox

AT&T and ESPN recently announced the availability of WatchESPN, enabling AT&T U-verse customers to access ESPN networks live online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the awardwinning WatchESPN app, and through ESPN on Xbox LIVE to Gold members. Just weeks ahead of the start of the MLB season and in advance of major sporting events like The Masters and NBA Playoffs, customers who receive ESPNs linear networks as part of their AT&T U-verse TV subscription can now stream live events and programming from ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU from the convenience of their computers, smartphones, tablets or Xbox. Additionally,

customers can enjoy ESPN Goal Line and ESPN Buzzer Beater through WatchESPN when those channels are in season. Customers with a supported smartphone or tablet can download the free app by visiting the iTunes App Store, Google Play Store or Amazon Appstore for Android. The app will prompt customers to enter their AT&T U-verse subscriber credentials before accessing live content from WatchESPN. On computers, customers can visit http:// watchespn.com/activate/att and provide their AT&T U-verse IDs and passwords to access live programming online. Additionally, Xbox LIVE Gold members can download the ESPN experience and verify their subscription for access through their Xbox.

Disney Junior is also available to AT&T U-verse TV subscribers from Friday, March 29. Additional authenticated products that include WATCH Disney Channel, WATCH Disney XD and WATCH Disney Junior accessible across a variety of platforms and devices both in-home and out-of-the-home will be coming soon to AT&T U-verse TV subscribers. WatchESPN is available for use on the following mobile devices: iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad (must have OS 4.0 or later), and Android phones and tablets running version 2.3.3 and above. Spring 2013 Homeless Feeding at Hesed House in Aurora by Chicago Thamizhs

AURORA, IL - Thamizh Schools USA, Midwest Thamizh Sangam, and the International Tamil Language Foundation sponsored its second Homeless Feeding for 2013 to welcome spring at Hesed House located at 659 S. River Road, Aurora, IL. Volunteers, mostly young students of various Thamizh schools, served food for the homeless guests. Many Tamil community volunteers from the sponsoring organizations attended and helped the Thamizh school children in this noble cause. Before serving food, the adults and children helped dis-

tribute medicine and daily cleaning products to the homeless guests. After passing out the food, the children distributed booklets carrying: The message of the 2009 massacre A print-out from the following (four chapters - 40 couplets) from ThirukkuRaL written by Saint ThiruvaLLuvar in 31 B.C. - Earnest Striving (Effort/ Perseverance), Not Giving up (Firmness in Adversity), Possession of Industriousness (Energy/ Zeal) and Avoidance of Laziness (Sloth)" and

The history of Thamizhs through the eyes of other world famous scholars like Megasthemes, Pan Kon, Strembo, Periplus, Twan Lin, Yuan Chwang, Wassaf, Marco Polo, and Michael Wood, Breakfast bars were issued to the less fortunate guests to provide a little relief from hunger for the following day. The volunteers thanked the Hesed House Lunch Coordinator Joe and other volunteers for this memorable event and their ongoing service to the community and the sponsors who funded this event.
