learning progress, Cambridge Progression tests, and Cambridge Checkpoint tests, reading initiatives, Fifty books in Fifty days, and a wide range of events, school assemblies, National, International Day celebrations, After school Activities, Field Trips, Team sports, Charity drives, Student Council, House competition, Talent contests, and annual productions, to name a few. Field Trips and other learning activities alongside the rest of our students. Our over 500 Kindergarten students have had a unique year in many ways. The KG one and two classes were separated into different sections and the Cambridge Primary program has been introduced into the KG2 curriculum, whilst maintaining the Montessori environment and philosophy. By blending the best aspects of the Montessori and more mainstream Cambridge Primary program, we hope to offer our KG2 children a modern and innovative curriculum, while maintaining the holistic learning atmosphere that they have thrived in thus far. This feature is unique to our school and the feedback from our teaching faculty and parents has been positive and encouraging. I must congratulate and commend the KG2 teachers under the able leadership of Ms. Susie Mcshane for coming on board and embracing the change with all of its challenges. I hope that all our KG2 staff members have grown professionally from this experience and feel a sense of satisfaction for being the pioneers and agents of this innovation, which we all hope will greatly benefit our students. The Junior School has been a very busy place indeed. I see this year as having been an absolute whirlwind of activity in which all members of our Junior School, students and staff, have grown together through both successes and setbacks. Our emphasis has been on quality teaching and learning, examination success and a high standard of discipline. I am pleased to say that throughout the year we have seen a tremendous number of new initiatives in the classrooms. The rigors of the academic program, the emphasis on on-going assessments and benchmarking the At our school, each student is considered special and it is this key value that enables us to achieve a high quality of education through an outstanding curriculum and a professional learning faculty. We seek to develop the skills, talents and interests of all our students as individuals within a supportive and caring environment, and have high aspirations for our students. PARIS (Parents Association of Raffles International School) has been pivotal in providing many new experiences to our children. Their care, passion and hard work throughout the school year are invaluable in creating the caring and supportive school environment of which we are all so proud. From Bake Sales to supporting school events, like Sport days, Annual productions, National and International day, Mothers Day, Field Trips we have so heavily relied on PARIS. From peeling oranges to stitching costumes, cutting, pasting, coloring, baking, looking after the lost and found items - they have done it all. I would like more parents to come forward and be an active part of this very important and effective body - contribute some time and ideas and make a difference! I would also like to express my appreciation to class parents and parent volunteers who have throughout the school year assisted teachers in class events, Field Trips, reading and in the learning taking place in the classrooms. A very special thank you to all the dads who took time off work to be a part of Reading with Dad day. From the time this event started three years ago, children and dads have been equally excited to be a part of this event. So as we end the academic year 2012-2013, I thank all families for their continued enthusiastic support for Raffles International School. We are proud of our parent community and I look forward to your continued support, encouragement and appreciation. I would also like to thank each and every member of the team, teaching and support staff, for their hard work, boundless energy and enthusiasm. They work tirelessly and I am sure when we see our children at the end of an academic year, more independent, responsible and knowledgeable we could not wish for anything more. As I write to wish adieu to this academic year, we have begun ambitious plans for 2013-2014. We hope to add more rigors to our classroom teaching and learning, sharpen our tracking tools to measure student learning, utilize parent expertise to enrich student learning experiences, provide professional development for our staff, and further enhance communication and involvement of parents in the learning journey of their children. I wish you all a relaxing summer break. To all travelers of faraway lands, Bon Jour and InshaAllah, we will meet again to carry forward the learning journey of our children. Please remember, if you cannot give your child anything else; give them the love of reading !! Best regards and best wishes

Dear Parents, Staff and Students,

It is always nostalgic to write for the schools year book and look back and reflect on the journey we have taken together. Once again, it has been a year of growth in all sections of the school, especially in Kindergarten and Grade One. The school has seen a twenty -four percent growth over the last academic year. The introduction of the Secondary school has been very rewarding. Our 36 pioneer students have continued their learning journey with us and we are happy to have been able to provide them with their very own section of the school campus. I am proud and humbled to see that even with an impressive growth in our student numbers, our campus maintains its best feature - The welcoming, caring and open environment where students and families feel a sense of ownership, have a voice, and thrive together as one community. This has been validated and appreciated by many of our parents, visitors to the school and by the KHDA inspectors who have experienced and felt the vibrancy of the school campus for themselves. Our Nursery section has come to earn an identity all its own. It is distinct from other Raffles nurseries in that it is attached to the school, and hence in some ways benefits from the larger culture of our institution. Though the Nursery follows its own unique curriculum, our youngest students also get the opportunity to take part in the Environment initiatives, International and National Day celebrations, Art Exhibition and
