Tools and Wonderfuls

Increasing the power of your farm tools come from attaching rocks, called Wonderful Stones, to the tool's available stone slots. Each tool will have a certain number of slots available to insert stones into. You will earn Wonderfuls by winning festivals, making with your kitchen, reaching the 255th floor of the mine on Volcano Island, or buying them from Chen's shop. You might even get a Wonderful on your wedding anniversary. The seven colors of Wonderful Stones will increase the power of your tools in different ways. You can attach stones of the same color for a stronger affect, or even mix and match stones to create a tool with different benefits compared to the standard versions. The basic tools you start with (hammer, axe, hoe, sickle, and watering can) do not have slots available to have any Wonderful Stone attached. If you want to attach stones then you will have to buy new tools from Gannon. Mirabelle sells the milker, sheers, and brush tools at her animal shop. The Fishing Pole does not have any slots to insert Wonderfuls into.

The most standard example is the watering can and the need to power it up to water a 3x3 square of crops. The basic watering can can only water 1 crop at a time. To increase its power, you will have to attach 1 Blue Wonderful (for +2 width range) and 2 Red Wonderfuls (for +1 and +1 length range). The details on the Watering Can will give you an area of 3x3.

How To Get Wonderfuls

There are a few different ways you can get Wonderfuls for your tools.

Winning Festivals
The easiest way is to simply win festivals. If you are the festival champion, you will be rewarded with a Wonderful Stone. If you are not the festival winner, you will win Wonderful Chips instead, which is only 1/7th of one Wonderful. You can combine 7 Wonderful Chips and go to Charlie's shop to create 1 Purple Wonderful.

The color of stone you receive from the festival is determined by the weather that occurs two days after the festival AND the day of the week the festival took place. It is not based on your Farm Degree points like in Island of Happiness: The festival was on a: The festival was on a: Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu Fri, Sat, Sun Weather Stone Weather Stone Sunny Sunny Yellow Blue Clear Cloudy Drizzly Rainy Snowy Stormy Red Blue Green Orange Purple Indigo Clear Cloudy Drizzly Rainy Snowy Stormy Yellow Orange Red Purple Indigo Green

For example, if you were the winner of the Summer 7 chicken festival that took place on a Tuesday, and the weather on the 9th ended up being a hurricane, then on the 7th you would of been rewarded with an Indigo Wonderful. The day's weather is set 7 days in advance, so the weather for the 2nd day after the festival is set 5 days before the festival; in the case of the Chicken Festival above, it would be set starting on Summer 2 for the Wonderful's weather on Summer 9. You may be thinking "I'll just save my game on the 2nd and skip ahead to the 9th to see what color I get", but that won't work. Once you hit the 9th, the weather may be different than what you anticipate it to be:

Using the previous example, lets say you saved your game on the 2nd and skipped ahead to the 9th to see that the weather was going to be Cloudy. This means that you'll win a Blue Wonderful if you are the Chicken Festival champion. So you reload to the 2nd and play the game like normal, win the Chicken Festival, but end up with a Yellow Wonderful instead! Since the weather is set 7 days in advance, the weather for the 9th has changed because you reloaded back to the 2nd. The weather from the 2nd to the 8th will be the same, but the weather on the 9th changed. Your Cloudy day ended up being Sunny, which rewards you with a Yellow Wonderful instead of a Blue. On the other hand, if you had saved your game on the 3rd and then skipped forward to the 9th to see your Cloudy day, when you reload your game back to the 3rd and play through, you will win a Blue Wonderful on the 7th. But no matter what you do, you are guaranteed to get a Blue Wonderful. You can't change the weather on the 9th because it is only 6 days between the 3rd and the 9th.

So basically, changing the weather to get a specific color Wonderful does not work. The closest thing you can do is save 5 days before a festival, play through the game without saving, and if you're the winner and you don't get the color you want, reload back those 5

days and try to go through it again. This will take a lot of save/reload (and time) if you're hoping to get a specific color.

Using Your Kitchen

You can cook up some Wonderfuls using your kitchen, but you need to know the recipes from Haila at the Cafe. To learn the recipes, you need to give her a colored book, which is another high-level cooking recipe. To make the primary Black Book, you need to make the highest level dish for each of the cooking categories (Salads, Soup/Drink, Appetizer, Main, and Dessert). Those high level dishes also require a combination of other cooking dishes. So lets say you want to make an Orange Wonderful. The ingredients you need to combine are:

Step 1: Category Dishes Elli Leaves = Failed Dish + Herb Salad + Salad + Pickled Turnip + Pickle + Boiled Spinach Yggdra Soup = Failed Dish + Sangria + Relax Tea + Soy Milk + Herb Soup + Fruit Smoothie Chazuke = Failed Dish + Buckwheat Chips + Dried Bean Curd + Spring Roll + Steamed Egg Custard + Mochi Mix Natto Poseidon Bowl = Failed Dish + Ultimate Curry + Porridge + Egg Over Rice + Fried Rice Noodles + Tempura Soba Sweet and Sunny = Failed Dish + Trifle + Fruit Dumpling + Chocolate Fondue + Apple Pie + Chestnut Gelatin Step 2: Black Book Black Book = Elli Leaves + Yggdra Soup + Chazuke + Poseidon Bowl + Sweet and Sunny Step 3: Orange Book Orange Book = Black Book + Failed Dish + Orange Herb + Orange Curry + Wonderful Chip Step 4: Orange Wonderful Orange Wonderful = Orange Book + Orange Herb + Orange Curry + Wonderful Chip

It takes a lot of work just to make a Wonderful with your kitchen. You also need to know the recipes in advance to cooking them, so you have to make multiple Black Books to get the Orange Book recipe, then an Orange Book to give to Haila to learn the Orange Wonderful Recipe.

The 255th Floor Of The Mine

If you manage to reach the bottom floor of the mine on Volcano Island, you will be rewarded with a Wonderful. The color you receive is based off of the same table used for rewarding a Wonderful on a festival day, but you don't have to actually win anything to receive the stone.

If you reach floor 255 on a Saturday and the following Monday is a Cloudy day, you'll receive a Blue Wonderful. It seems pretty simple, but the challenges is the fact that you can't even reach the bottom floor of the mine until you have earned over 30,000 Mining Degree points. Earning such a large number of degree points will take you a long time.

Buy From Chen's Store

At the beginning of the game, Chen will have a few Wonderfuls for sale to help you start up your farm. You can buy a Red Wonderful and Blue Wonderful for 5000 G each, and a Yellow Wonderful for 4000 G. Chen also sells Wonderfuls during the Winter season. Check his shop every day to see if he has a Wonderful Stone or a Wonderful Chip for sale. After you buy a stone or chip from his shop, another won't appear for at least 3 days. If you are looking for a specific color of stone, you can adjust your Farm Degree to get one to appear, but it is rather complicated and awkward to do. Getting the Wonderfuls to appear in Winter has to do with the last 2 digits of certain Farm Degree categories (Mining Degree, Fishing Degree, Crops Degree, and Cooking Degree) and then adjusting either your Mining, Other, or Animal Degrees to get specific colors. Very complicated! You can find more information on the How To Get Wonderfuls In Winter topic on the message forum.

Your Wedding Anniversary

After you are married, celebrate your yearly wedding anniversary by going inside of your farm house after 6:00 pm. If your spouse has at least 30,000 fp (5 hearts) then he/she will give you a Wonderful Stone. The stone color you receive is based on the weather that occurs 2 days after your wedding anniversary, just like it is with the festivals and the bottom of the mine.

The Sun Stones

Your main goal in the game is to resurrect the islands that sunk to the bottom of the ocean a long time ago. When you first start, you have access to Ranch Island, Lighthouse Island, Verdure Island, Sprout Island, and Meadow Island. The remaining 10 islands are trapped on the ocean floor.

The trigger to using the stones is the shrine on Meadow Island. You can't collect any Sun Stones until Spring 10 or the first sunny day thereafter, when the entire island population hears a strange voice coming from the Meadow Island. Only you can see Agete the red Harvest Sprite, keeper of the Sun Stone shrine. Agete explains that the rest of the islands sunk and asks that you bring him Sun Stones so that they can return to the surface. Locating the 100 Sun Stones is done as you progress through the game. You can complete tasks and receive stones as rewards, receive them as gifts from your villager friends, or you can just find then by investigating locations around the islands. When you have collected enough stones to revive an island, return to Agete and ask the sprite to resurrect an island. You can visit the island immediately after it has been revived. You can resurrect the islands in any order you want. You just have to collect the necessary Sun Stones:

Animal Island: 10 Sun Stones - An island where wild animals live. If you befriend the animals, you can ask them to locate items for you. Volcano Island: 8 Sun Stones - A fiery place where the mine is located. You need this island to unlock Will and Lily Mystic Islands: 12 Sun Stones - A pair of islands with a bridge connecting them. Witchkins and Witch Princess live on one side, and Alisa, Nathan, and the Harvest Goddess live on the other side. Mushroom Island: 12 Sun Stones - Shea and Wada live here, where wild mushrooms grow every day. You also need this island if you want a pet pig. Link Island: 3 Sun Stones - A small island north of your farm. It is the "stepping stone" to the three other farming islands. You need to have Gannon build a bridge to each one of them. Greenhouse Island: 10 Sun Stones - The island to the left of Link Island. Gannon can build a greenhouse here that allows you to grow crops in any season. Link Island has to be unlocked before you can unlock Greenhouse Island Rice Island: 5 Sun Stones - North of Link Island is where you can plant Rice. You still need a Yellow Wonderful on your hoe to till the soil, and the only thing that grows here is Rice. Link Island has to be unlocked before you can unlock Rice Island. Fruit Island: 10 Sun Stones - This island is where you can plant up to 20 tree, and it is to the right of Link Island. Link Island has to be unlocked before you can unlock Tree Island.

After you have the main 15 islands unlocked, Wada's Sunny Island will sink to the bottom of the ocean! The island was affected by the same problem that caused the other islands to sink, but the Harvest Goddess can use her magic to make sure it never happens again. Before she can do that, you will need to find the remaining 30 Sun Stones to raise Sunny Island. Until

you do, Wada will live on Mushroom Island with Shea. Before this event, Wada lives on Sunny Island and only spent Wednesdays and Thursdays with his adopted son on Mushroom Island.
