2. Hazards Identification
Emergency overview
Physical/Chemical hazards:
Potential health effects
CAUTION: ! white liquid liquid of hydrocarbons Contact causes eye irritation, Contact causes skin irritation., Contains petroleum distillates and prolonged contact with mists may cause skin, eye and respiratory tract irritation. Continued overexposure may cause headache and dizziness. Ingestion may cause lung complications. Spills are very slippery.
Primary routes of entry: Skin, Eyes, Inhalation, Ingestion Chronic exposure: CAUSES EYE IRRITATION. Repeated or prolonged skin contact can cause drying and cracking of the skin. Vapors may irritate eyes and respiratory tract, and result in headacheor dizziness. Aspiration hazard
3. Composition/Information on Ingredients
Chemical name ALCOHOLS, (C=12-14)-SECONDARY, ETHOXYLATED Distillates (petroleum), hydrotreated light Ethanaminium, N,N,N-trimethyl-2-[(1-oxo-2CAS Number 84133-50-6 64742-47-8 69418-26-4 Content (Weight) 1.0 - 5.0 % 10.0 - 30.0 % 30.0 - 60.0 % Hazardous Y Y Y
4. First-aid Measures
Inhalation: Remove to fresh air, if not breathing give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen and get immediate medical attention. Skin: If clothing is contaminated, remove and launder before reuse. After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of water and soap. Get medical attention if irritation occurs. Eyes: Immediately flush the eye(s) with lukewarm, gently flowing water for 15 minutes or until the chemical is removed. Get immediate medical attention if irritation persists. Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting. If vomiting occurs naturally, have casualty lean forward to reduce the risk of aspiration. Seek medical attention immediately. Notes to physician: Aspiration hazard
5. Fire-fighting Measures
Suitable extinguishing media: carbon dioxide, dry powder, foam Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: If water is used, restrict pedestrian and vehicular traffic in areas where slip hazard may exist. Hazardous combustion products: Burning may produce oxides. Hazards during fire-fighting: Standard procedure for chemical fires. Cool fire-exposed containers with water. Spills can cause very slippery conditions on floors. Protective equipment for fire-fighting: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and chemical-protective clothing.
General advice: As with all industrial chemicals, use good industrial practices when handling. Avoid eye, skin, and clothing contact. Do not inhale. Do not taste or swallow. Use only with adequate ventilation. Clean up spills promptly Avoid extremes of temperature.
Storage
General advice: Keep container tightly closed in a dry, cool and well-ventilated place. Avoid extremes of temperature. Temperature tolerance: Product may freeze; however, it should recover upon warming. Should freezing occur, warm slowly. Thawed product should be thoroughly mixed with low shear agitation prior to use. > for industrial use only <
ACGIH
200 mg/m3 TWA: 200 mg/m3 Non-aerosol (as total hydrocarbon vapor) P: Application restricted to conditions in which there are negligible aerosol exposures. SKIN_DES: Non-aerosol (as total hydrocarbon vapor) Can be absorbed through the skin
Engineering Controls: Work in well ventilated areas. Do not breathe vapors or mist.
Personal protective equipment
Respiratory protection: Use NIOSH approved respirator as needed to mitigate exposure. Eye protection: Tightly fitting safety goggles (splash goggles) (EN 166) Body protection: Wear chemical resistant gloves and protective clothing. General safety and hygiene measures: Eye wash station and safety shower should be available in immediate work area., Select additional protective equipment based upon potential for exposure.
