Career Day at Irmo Middle School


Irmo Middle School will be hosting a Career Day on Friday, April 19th from 8 AM until 11 AM. Over 40 speakers representing many different career fields will be at IMS talking to students about their exciting careers. We are truly excited to be able to extend this learning opportunity to our students. Additionally, we are extremely grateful to all the parents/community members who are volunteering their time to work with our students. Important Reminders:
Early Dismissals
Please be mindful of our early dismissal cut off time of 3:00. This cut off time helps ensure the safety of our students and also helps to maximize uninterrupted instruction. If your student needs to be released after 3:00 please send a note with your child. Students must bring an early dismissal note to the attendance office to receive an early dismissal pass.

Yearbooks are still on sale at Irmo Middle School!


Buy your student's yearbook online with a credit card at www.yearbookforever.com (a $1 convienience fee will be added to online purchases) or at school with cash or check (made out to IMS). Payments can be turned in to the IMS Front Office or Mrs. Fuseler (rm. 733). Don't wait - yearbooks are on sale for only $45.00 and are sure to go fast! Yearbooks will be distributed on May 24th and are sold on a first come, first serve basis. Once we sell out, no more yearbooks will be available. Don't miss out on your chance to help your student remember all of the exciting events happening this year. Buy their yearbook today! If you are unsure as to whether you already purchased a yearbook at registration, please email me at efuseler@lexrich5.org

Please come by the lost and found and pick up your belongings. We have bags and bags of unclaimed items that will be donated by next Wednesday the 24th of April. These items will not be held after April 24th.

The IMS April College of the Month is Wofford College


Wofford College, established in 1854, is an independent liberal arts college located in Spartanburg, S.C. It offers bachelors degrees in 25 major fields of study, and is well known for its programs leading to graduate and professional studies (medicine and other health professions, law and the ministry). Affiliated with the United Methodist Church, the college is committed to quintessential undergraduate education within the context of values-based inquiry. Campus: Wofford is located a few blocks north of the central business district of Spartanburg, S.C., an international commercial center. The college has operated continuously on its original campus, which was designated a National Historic District in 1974. In November 2002, the entire 170-acre campus was designated as the Roger Milliken Arboretum. Nearly 5,000 trees have been planted since 1992. College Town: Home to six diverse higher education institutions, Spartanburg is located at the Junction of I-85 and I-26 in the South Carolina Upstate. The GSP International Airport is only a few miles west of the city. On February 25, 2010, groundbreaking was held for the Carolinas Campus of the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine. Located only three blocks west of the Woffords main gate in downtown Spartanburg, the medical school and the college look forward to a partnership that will enhance the academic experience at both institutions. International Programs: 113 students studied abroad for a semester or longer during 2011-2012; 226 students received academic credit for overseas study during the January 2012 Interim. Since 2007, more than 1700 students have studied abroad in 70 countries on all seven continents. Visual and Performing Arts: Major program in theatre, choral groups, band and string ensemble, two art galleries, major program in art history. Financial Data:

Club Sports: Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee IMS Connections to Wofford College Julie Anderson is a Wofford College Alumni. She is also related to the founder of the school. Aimee Holcomb worked at Wofford College in Residence Life and Student Affairs for 3 years. Connie Johnsons daughter, Jessica, is a Wofford alumni. Betty Stephensons son, Jon, is a Wofford Alumni.
