His coming at the day of doom; I bind unto myself today. I bind unto myself today The virtues of the starlit heaven, The glorious sun's life-giving ray, The whiteness of the moon at even, The flashing of the lightning free, The whirling wind's tempestuous shocks, The stable earth, the deep salt sea, Around the old eternal rocks. I bind unto myself today The power of God to hold and lead, His eye to watch, His might to stay, His ear to hearken to my need. Against the demon snares of sin, The vice that gives temptation force, The natural lusts that war within, The hostile men that mar my course; Or few or many, far or nigh, In every place and in all hours, Against their fierce hostility, I bind to me these holy powers. The Three in One, and One in Three, Of Whom all nature hath creation, Eternal Father, Spirit, Word: Praise to the Lord of my salvation, Salvation is of Christ the Lord. Liberaci dal Male Free us from evil or from the evil one? Both are possible translations of the conclusion of the Our Father Goel Leviticus 25, 26-49 The liberator of man from slavery, from burdens.
Throughout the country that you hold as a possession, you must provide for the redemption of the land. 25 If one of your countrymen becomes poor and sells some of his property, his nearest relative is to come and redeem what his countryman has sold. 26 If, however, a man has no-one to redeem it for him but he himself prospers and acquires sufficient means to redeem it, 27 he is to determine the value for the years since he sold it and refund the balance to the man to whom he sold it; he can then go back to his own property. 28 But if he does not acquire the means to repay him, what he sold will remain in the possession of the buyer until the Year of Jubilee. It will be returned in the Jubilee, and he can then go back to his property. 29 If a man sells a house in a walled city, he retains the right of redemption a full year after its sale. During that time he may redeem it. 30 If it is not redeemed before a full year has passed, the house in the walled city shall belong permanently to the buyer and his descendants. It is not to be returned in the Jubilee. 31 But houses in villages without walls round them are to be considered as open country. They can be redeemed, and they are to be returned in the Jubilee. 32 The Levites always have the right to redeem their houses in the Levitical towns, which they possess. 33 So the property of the Levites is redeemable - that is, a house sold in any town they hold - and is to be returned in the Jubilee, because the houses in the towns of the Levites are their property among the Israelites. 34 But the pasture-land belonging to their towns must not be sold; it is their permanent possession. 35 If one of your countrymen becomes poor and is unable to support himself among you, help him as you would an alien or a temporary resident, so that he can continue to live among you. 36 Do not take interest of any kind [ Or take excessive interest; similarly in verse 37 ] from him, but fear your God, so that your countryman may continue to live among you.

37 You must not lend him money at interest or sell him food at a profit. 38 I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt to give you the land of Canaan and to be your God. 39 If one of your countrymen becomes poor among you and sells himself to you, do not make him work as a slave. 40 He is to be treated as a hired worker or a temporary resident among you; he is to work for you until the Year of Jubilee. 41 Then he and his children are to be released, and he will go back to his own clan and to the property of his forefathers. 42 Because the Israelites are my servants, whom I brought out of Egypt, they must not be sold as slaves. 43 Do not rule over them ruthlessly, but fear your God. 44 Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you; from them you may buy slaves. 45 You may also buy some of the temporary residents living among you and members of their clans born in your country, and they will become your property. 46 You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life, but you must not rule over your fellow Israelites ruthlessly. 47 If an alien or a temporary resident among you becomes rich and one of your countrymen becomes poor and sells himself to the alien living among you or to a member of the alien's clan, 48 he retains the right of redemption after he has sold himself. One of his relatives may redeem him: 49 An uncle or a cousin or any blood-relative in his clan may redeem him. Or if he prospers, he may redeem himself.

Esther 4 also speaks of liberation of the Jews

12

When Esthers words were reported to Mordecai, 13 he sent back this answer: Do not think that because you are in the kings house you alone of all the Jews will escape. 14 For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your fathers family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?
15

Then Esther sent this reply to Mordecai: 16 Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.
17

So Mordecai went away and carried out all of Esthers instructions.

The shaman also serves the function of a liberator, freeing man from evil forces Professor Trocci, The Acts of the First Conference on Exorcism Trocci writes on the phenomenology of shamanism New Testament Egypt is symbolic of the suppression of man Christ comes to free man, free him from sin Luke 1

68Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people, 69And hath raised up an horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David; 70As he spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, which have been since the world began: 71That we should be saved from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us; 72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant; 73The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, 74That he would grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies might serve him without fear, 75In holiness and righteousness before him, all the days of our life. 76And thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest: for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways; 77To give knowledge of salvation unto his people by the remission of their sins, 78Through the tender mercy of our God; whereby the dayspring from on high hath visited us, 79To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

Mark 16
17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.

The difference between prayer of liberation and exorcism is that exorcism is only the agency of priests under the circumstances specified by the bishop The fathers on prayer of liberation Origen First praise God, second thank God, third examination of conscience, confession of sin/fault, fourth ask benedictions for all, fifth Cyril of Jerusalem, Isidore of Seville PL in the Middle Ages Aquinas, ask something for yourself, ask it with great faith and humility, persistently Bernard of Clairvaux Anthony of Padua PL in the Magistero Catechism

VII "BUT DELIVER US FROM EVIL" 2850 The last petition to our Father is also included in Jesus' prayer: "I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one." 163 It touches each of us personally, but it is always "we" who pray, in communion with the whole Church, for the deliverance of the whole human family. The Lord's Prayer continually opens us to the range of God's economy of salvation. Our interdependence in the drama of sin and death is turned into solidarity in the Body of Christ, the "communion of saints."164

Code of Cannon Law Can. 1172 1. No one can perform exorcisms legitimately upon the possessed unless he has obtained special and express permission from the local ordinary. 2. The local ordinary is to give this permission only to a presbyter who has piety, knowledge, prudence, and integrity of life. Prayer of liberation ask the saints and angels to free us, exorcism is a command given to the demons I order you to come out! This is the difference between the two. Prayer of liberation does not command, it asks intercession of another.
