Having recently completed a Masters degree in Public Health and International Development at The University of Sheffield, I have fresh knowledge and understanding of international public health issues. I have taken part in a research placement and field class, both providing me with valuable experience and a transferable skill set to use in the work place. Currently, I am looking for experience in the field of Public Health, where I can bring my relevant theoretical insight and apply it in real-life situations, while gaining further knowledge in this field.

Intern Project Assistant - Tanzania World Vision Canada (Mississauga, ON & Tanzania) April 2013 - Jan 2014 Worked on a maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition project. Support the design of project monitoring tools. Assist in collecting and collating project data. Report on project outputs and outcomes. Helping implement community empowerment activities. Project Assistant - Intern Canadian Society for International Health (Ottawa, ON) Jan 2013 - Apr 2013 Project promotion including developing content for websites, creating promotional materials, and disseminating project information.

PERSONAL DETAILS

Assisted the project coordinator for the Global Hepatitis C Network to organize and take minutes at meetings, identify public-private and global partnerships for collaboration, and assist with capacity building events. Project development tasks involving writing and reviewing funding proposals, and assisting with the implementation of Global Citizens for Global Health internships. Administrative responsibilities including liaising with staff, consultants, and key stakeholders, editing documents for dissemination, and executing general office duties.

Research Placement Green Tara Nepal (Kathmandu, Nepal) June 2012 - July 2012 Assisted in creating a baseline maternal and antenatal health needs survey, conducted quantitative and qualitative field research in rural Nepal, and entered and analysed survey data using SPSS. Demonstrated professionalism by adhering to deadlines, attending staff meetings, and taking part in surveyor training sessions. Enhanced cultural sensitivity, awareness, and understanding of caste hierarchies. International Development Field Class Marich Pass Field Studies Centre (Marich, Kenya) January 2012 Mixed methods research project on household behaviours and attitudes affecting the quality of drinking water from domestic sources. Preformed in-depth interviews with women in the rural community of Tikeet, and did both coliform and turbidity testing of water samples. Tested reasoning and creativity in an unfamiliar environment with many complications. Research and Development Summer Student Scotsburn Dairy Group (Truro, NS) May - August 2010 Assisted with monitoring production, quality standards testing, product development, and a product quality research project. Gained valuable research experience and developed leadership skills. Certain projects required independent initiative while others were worked on as part of a team. Teaching Assistant and Tutor (Biology and Physics Departments) Mount Allison University (Sackville, NB) Sept 2009 - April 2011 Taught laboratories, tutored students, and marked class assignments. Developed communication skills. Effectively communicated the lessons, as well as listened to concerns and questions, and responded appropriately.

VOLUNTEER EXPERIENCE
British Red Cross Volunteer South Yorkshire, UK Sept 2011 - May 2012 Attended workshops on the principles of the Red Cross, safeguarding in schools, and refugee awareness. Assisted in delivering educational programs to middle school students on refugee and asylum seekers in the UK. Public Health Brigade Volunteer Global Brigades (Honduras) February of 2010 and 2011 Spent one week in Honduras helping to construct latrines, pilas (water storage units), eco-stoves, and lay concrete floors all to enhance household health. Coordinated health education programs for school children and community members to empower individuals and increase the communitys capacity. Student Administrative Council, Off-Campus Councillor Mount Allison University (Sackville, NB) Oct 2009 - May 2011 Represented students as a voting member of council at weekly meetings, and by taking part in various academic, financial, student, and university committees. Was required to keep in regular communication with constituents, and take leadership in representing their concerns.
