Descripcin:
In this lesson plan, music is seen as a means of art. Students will be able to discuss the influence of music on people's lives. Some extracts of different kinds of music and some short texts; are attached. Students will practise mainly their speaking skills and they will also work on the summary of a text.

Propsitos:
- To work with a topic of their interest, having fun and enjoying the class. - To encourage students to express their own opinions about how important music is in different aspects of people's lives. - To develop speaking skills by contrasting ideas, giving their opinion and exemplifying. - To work with summary and writing skills.

Criterios de evaluacin
- Based on their speaking and written tasks.

- Expressions used to give an opinion. - Assorted verb tenses. -

Actividades

Warm up: "Songs" Students listen to different extracts of songs which talk about the power of music, as well as love for music (Example: "Vivo per lei" by Andrea Bocelli, "Play my music" by the Jonas Brothers, "Thank you for the music" by Abba and others). They then discuss what the songs talk about. Speaking : "The influence of music"

The class is divided into small groups according to their seating arrangement. In order to guide the students' discussion, some pictures are stuck on the board (peace symbol, hearts, reggae music, a group of friends at a concert, a brain and some others. They will look at them and give their opinion about the importance of music in different aspects of people's lives Reading, speaking and writing

A text about the influence of music is divided into three parts. Each of them has a different

colour (blue, red, yellow). The teacher gives out one part of the text to each student. They read, understand and be ready to say what they have read to the rest of the students in their group. They then get together in trios (one blue, one red, one yellow) and share their reading. Finally, they put the three parts of the text together, reread them and make a summary. Closure Students come to the board and write key words next to the pictures.
