EVENT NUMBER: SCG-0050 COUNTRY: Serbia and Montenegro DATE UPDATED: 23 Jan 06 TCT TITLE OF EVENT: Officer Professional Military Education & Training Programs 1. LENGTH OF EVENT: 4 days plus 2 days travel; total 6 days.

2. PURPOSE OF EVENT: To familiarize the Serbia and Montenegro (SaM) Education and Training Department, General Staff, and MOD representatives with formal, in-residence US Army officer professional military education and training programs. GOAL 1.2: Establish a military force structure adequate for the defensive needs of Serbia and Montenegro FAM AREA 1.2.4: Expose the SaM armed forces to the US officer training and education system. 3. CONTENT OF EVENT: The HN requests familiarization with mission, organization and role of the US Army Command and General Staff College, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, focusing on education and career progression for military officers. Of key interest is the necessity for mid-level officer career education, the role of this particular school, how this education develops future senior leaders, and integration with doctrine development. This is part of a related series of events on the subject of military professional education. This will also be an opportunity for Serbian military representatives to meet future US Army senior leadership and strengthen bilateral mil-mil relations. Briefings, discussions, and observations should include: College facilities, organization, roles and purposes and integration with entire Armed Forces Lesson preparation: content, education model, lesson methodology, classroom presentation Coordination of school curriculums with doctrine development Practical lessons organization Use of multi-media resources/Lessons rooms equipment standards (ex: laptop computers, audio-visual) Use of computer-driven simulations for education Participants and instructors daily schedules and routine (work and free time organization) Career tracking and monitoring of graduates Outside source information input and influences (other US and foreign influences) 4. HOST NATION AUDIENCE: Approximately 20 SaM Education and Training Department, General Staff, and MOD representatives. Translator will be provided. 5. OPR: USAREUR OSR: TRADOC/CGSC
