Anderson Dairy Guide will take class on a tour through the Dairy to teach students what they produce and how.

Barnyard Buddies Tour Students will see how the dairy processs and package dairy products. Tour has been created, complete with animatronics animals, farm scenery and colorful lighting to help tell the story of Anderson Dairy and Las Vegas.

Visitation Field Trip

Geography

Deputy Drip is the mascot of water conservation for the Southern Nevada Water Authority. He teaches children the importance of saving water in our desert community.

Deputy Drip is interactive with students using props and students become junior deputies that are responsible for spreading the word of conservation. Each student will receive a sticker badge and coloring book.

This is the National Park Service's on-line Junior Ranger program for kids of all ages. If you love your National Parks, Monuments and Historic Sites, this site is for you. It includes panorama views and historical information about the rooms of the U.S. Capitol, as well as, information about the objects found in those rooms. Geography

Wetlands Park Up to 5 trained educator facilitators per group of 70 students max. Nature walk up to two miles round trip where students will participate in hands-on activities along the way.

K-2 Tuesday only 3-5 Thursday only Students will use age appropriate science equipment observing and recording weather, learning about the animals in the desert and the different plants that make this area unique. Students will also discuss environmental problems and solutions. The Mojave Max Program provides educational assemblies in January and February of each year. The assemblies include appearances by a meteorologist who discusses Mojave Desert weather, an educator who discusses desert tortoise biology and conservation, and the costumed Mojave Max character.

1. Explain which field trip you think you will actually try to use. I would use all the field trips depending on the grade level I will teach. The Anderson Dairy tour is my favorite and I believe students of all ages enjoy this field trip as long as they havent gone too many times. I also would love to visit the Wetlands because I have never been and I have heard great things about it especially when the weather is beautiful. Spring time is a great time to visit the Wetlands or Springs Preserve. The virtual field trips were quite fun to navigate through and could be used as a center in the classroom.

2. What challenges did you run into during this assignment? The most challenging was finding visitors to come to the school for intermediate grades. I was trying to find who would come to teach about history or civics and was thinking about an assembly for the Josh Stevens Foundation but wasnt quite sure if they m ay fit into a Civics strain.
