Background of the Company On 18 December 1997, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak (UNITAR) was one of the first private

universities in Malaysia being established. The University was named after the Malaysias second Prime Minister, the late YAB Tun Abdul Razak bin Dato Hussein. The name is significant as Tun Abdul Razak is also known as the Father of Development, and the university aspires to actively contribute to the development efforts of the nation. The University was officially launched by YAB Dato Seri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak, current Prime Minister of Malaysia and Minister of Education, on 21 December 1998. On the 1st of March 2007, Tun Abdul Razak Education Foundation (Yayasan PINTAR) had acquired Universiti Tun Abdul Razak from KUB Malaysia Berhad. Then, Universiti Tun Abdul Razak was officially rebranded with the new acronym of UNIRAZAK on the 9th October 2009. On the 1st August 2011, UNIRAZAK Pintar Campus in Petaling Jaya had been re-established as a new entity and been renamed as University of Management and Technology (UMTECH). On 22nd May 2012, Nilam Suria Sdn. Bhd. had acquired UMTECH where Ekuinas (Ekuiti Nasional Malaysia Berhad) holds the majority stake, together with other private investors and UMTECH is then renamed as Unitar International University (UIU) on 18th October 2012.
