15 GHZ MINILINK MICROWAVE SYSTEMS (Siemens Make) 1.0 Scope: This Engineering Instruction (EI) Covers the general description and acceptance testing of the 15 GHz Minilink microwave. 2.0 General: This is a Digital Radio System of the type SRAL-XD/15GHz/ND/1+1Hot/B/4x2.048 Mbps applied mainly for short PDH microwave lines as an integral parts for backhauling of access layer in a Mobile Network provided by M/s Nortel against BSNL tender of IMPCS Phase -IV. Equipment Configuration: the equipment adopts a split configuration composed of 1 indoor unit connected to 2 outdoor units by means of a coaxial cable. The ODU is directly connected to the rear of the antenna by means of 4 retaining latches normally without any of the wave-guide. The other part IDU contains the tributary (2.048 Mbps) input and output ports and interfaces for service channels, network maintenance facilities, alarms, connections to power supply. The main board houses the controller, base band card with hitless logic switch, scrambler / disscrambler and APC circuits. All the connecter for the traffic, service channel and maintenance operation are in the front of the equipment. 3.0 The ODU and IDU configuration: The ODU and IDU configuration are managed by the user through software management and their functional block diagrams are given below: 3.1 IDU Functional Block Diagram: Power Supply BUS Control BUS Signal BUS

3.3 Functional Description: 3.3.1 ODU: The basic function of this unit are: (1) IDU ODU cable interface management (It contain the Power Supply to ODU and in/out base band aggregate signals interfering). (2) Modulation of the base band digital signals received from the IDU. (3) Demodulation of the received RF signal and delivery of the recovered base band signal to the IDU. (4) Supervision and configuration / management of the ODU. (5) Management of the communication channel from/to IDU controller. The modulation technique: The ODU adopts a frequency division duplexing technique. The RF operating band is 14.5 to 15.35 GHz., RF-Tx & Rx frequency, the output power, ATPC are configurable by the user. Within a frequency band, typical, a quarter of band ability is detained through independent Tx/Rx synthesized VCOs (Voltage Control Oscillators) with step size of 250 KHz. 3.3.2 IDU: The following are the basic functions of the component of the IDU. (1)Power Supply It controls and distributes the battery voltage to the cable to the ODU and to DC/DC converter module for IDU Power supply. Automatic shutdown and protection against reversal of battery are provided . (2)Tributaries interface (4x2.048) If satisfies the ITU-T recommendation G.703 Mux / demux of digital E1, coding / decoding, scrambling / descrambling, FEC and protection on length and aggregate stage etc. Clock recovery error correction are done in digital data base band processing. (3)IDU-ODU Interconnection It is based on standard frame, which accommodate the aggregate carefully, the IDU ODU communication channel, the IDU commands to ODU and then ODU alarms to IDU. (4)V-LAN / Q-LAN and RS232 for management are available. (5) Alarms (a)Transparent transport in a radio link of up to 4, externally supplied alarm lines i.e open door alarm, smoke alarm etc.(input line) (b) Delivery to the outside of radio equipment of 5 alarms related to equipment status (input line) Power, Major, critical, IDU, ODU. (6)User Channel Interface 64 Kbps data cut for user define application. It is software configured in contra directional and co-directional. (7)Memory Key Stores equipment setting parameter. (8)Signaling LEDs for easy diagnostics and maintenance the system provides the summary of the major alarms on signal LEDs in the front panel. With details the system through service PC, points out all the single roots that participates to the creation of the alarm resuming signals.
