XXX SENIOR PUBLICATIONS EDITOR MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB To manage the production of XXXs internal and external publications and other communications to ensure key audiences are informed accurately and kept up to date with both developments in the XXX sector and XXXs objectives. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to: Responsible for: Marketing and Communications Manager Publications Editor

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A Print publishing To develop and manage the publications and communications production schedule to ensure XXX publications and other products are produced on time, to budget and to agreed standards. To provide professional support, guidance and advice to other XXX staff, volunteers and external agencies who are producing publications and other materials to support local business plans and to raise XXXs profile. To edit, produce and develop a range of XXX publications and other communications media, including writing and commissioning copy conducting interviews. To identify and manage a range of external suppliers as part of the production process, including freelance writers, designers and printers. To lead on the production of XXXs membership magazine, including planning, production, distribution and management of the contract publisher. To work with staff across XXX, particularly Membership and Professional Development and Operations to ensure that their publications needs are planned and produced effectively. To work with staff in the Marketing and Communications team to effectively promote XXXs brand by ensuring its house style guidelines are maintained and readily accessible by both staff and volunteers. To work with the Web Editor to ensure that printed and online content is complementary and supports XXXs wider marketing work. To work with the Web Editor and ensure the website is up to date in their absence. Management and supervision To carry out management, supervision, appraisal and development of the Publications Editor to ensure high quality service delivery.

To ensure that printed materials are produced in line with protocols and budgets set and managed by the Marketing and Communications Manager.

CRITERIA EXPERIENCE Experience in a similar role including: Developing and managing plans incorporating a range of different publications Researching, interviewing, writing and editing for a range of publications and audiences Experience of managing staff and/or suppliers Criteria Tested At Application Interview

Project management skills with a proven capacity to organise and plan time effectively to meet deadlines A high level of writing, sub-editing and proof reading skills, working with attention to detail Intermediate IT skills Communicate effectively using appropriate methods and language, including IT, with a range of audiences. Creative writing skills Collaborative working as part of a team Demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice in all areas of work

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of Design, print and production processes. Good knowledge of Mac OS and publishing software. Knowledge and experience of working within a house-style. Educated to degree level or equivalent Evidence of CPD with demonstrable relevance to the services managed

EDUCATION/ TRAINING

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

To be able to occasionally work at weekends and/or be away from home overnight
