XXX PUBLICATIONS EDITOR MAIN PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF THE JOB To support the production of XXX publications by writing, editing and producing a range of communications content, working with external suppliers as required in a style consistent with the Associations corporate brand identity and house style and to ensure the effective distribution of publications. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Reports to: Senior Publications Editor

DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES A B Print publishing To edit, produce and develop high quality content across a range of XXX publications, including writing and commissioning copy, conducting interviews and liaising with outside suppliers. To contribute to the content and production of XXXs membership magazine, as directed by the Senior Publications Editor and work with the contract publisher to ensure effective production. To consult widely, both inside and outside the association, on the content of XXX publications and other communications media and regularly review content to ensure it is up to date Working with the Senior Publications Editor, work with a range of external suppliers and freelance workers to ensure work is completed within agreed timescales. To write articles about XXX and XXX for external publications when required. To ensure the effective distribution of publications by liaising with relevant XXX departments and outside organisations. To edit and proof read copy across a range of XXX publications and other communications media, including online content, press releases and research reports. To maintain XXXs image library, working with staff in the Marketing and Communications team to identify and fulfil image requirements to support wider marketing activity. To support staff in the Marketing and Communications team to effectively promote XXXs brand. Publications support and advice To act as the first point of contact for XXX staff wishing to update or amend XXX publications. Working with the Senior Publications Editor, to provide professional support, guidance and advice to other XXX staff, volunteers and external agencies who are producing publications and other materials to support local business plans and to raise XXXs profile.

EXPERIENCE

Experience in a similar role including: Researching, interviewing, writing and editing for a range of publications and audiences, working within agreed timescales Working with suppliers, for example designers and printers A proven capacity to organise and plan time effectively to meet deadlines A good level of sub-editing and proof reading skills, and an attention to detail Intermediate IT skills Communicate effectively using appropriate methods and language, including IT, with a range of audiences. Creative writing skills Collaborative working as part of a team Demonstrate anti-discriminatory practice in all areas of work

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of Print and production processes Publishing software. Knowledge and experience of working within a house-style. Evidence of CPD with demonstrable relevance to the services managed

To be able to occasionally work at weekends and/or be away from home overnight
