Introduction of One Year LL.M. Programme from 2013-14 Academic Session


___________________________________________________________________________ GNLU has an immense pleasure in announcing that GNLU is introducing One year LL.M. Degree programme with effect from 2013-14 academic year. LLM program Organisational Structure: The LLM Program will be planned, conducted and monitored by the GNLU Post-Graduate Legal Studies Centre (GPLSC). It will consist of LLM Program Director, headed by Professor or Associate Professor and minimum additional two Associate Professors and four Assistant Professors. LLM lectures and training will be conducted by internal faculty as well as external practitioners and experts. Requirements: Duration: one academic year, normally July to following June Program structure: two semesters (normally monsoon semester from July to November and winter semester from January to May) Number of lectures: 48 hours lectures per subject inclusive of tutorials and field visit Submission of LLM dissertation: Latest by close of business of Friday of the first week of June Only students having obtained minimum 80% attendance in each subject in a semester shall be eligible to appear in the end-semester examination. Teaching Training: Each student shall take minimum 5 lectures in a semester at the undergraduate level in the area of their specialisation or interests in consultation with the LLM Program Director and concerned subject teachers. Each student shall present at least one substantive paper in a national or international conference during the enrolment year itself. Each student shall publish at least one article in a national or international journal ISSN / ISBN indexed during the enrolment year itself. A proof of acceptance of publication during the enrolment year itself will be acceptable in lieu of actual publication.

Curriculum and Syllabus: GNLU will offer total 10 papers consisting of 9 theory papers and one thesis. GNLU will offer the following specializations, depending upon the availability of faculty and other required infrastructure, including training facility, etc. and enrolment of minimum 10 students in any of the following specialisations.
Specializations International and Comparative Law Corporate and Commercial Law Constitutional and Administrative Law Intellectual Property Rights

Depending upon the availability of faculty, other required resources and specific interests of minimum 10 students, the Centre may offer a tailor-made specialisation from below choices.
Specialisation (Direct and Indirect Taxation) Specialisation (Banking and Finance) Specialisation (Criminal and Security Law) Specialisation (Insurance Law) Specialisation (Energy and Natural Resources) Specialisation (Environmental Law) Specialisation (Law of the Sea and Maritime Laws) Specialisation (Family and Social Security Law) Specialisation (Legal Pedagogy and Research) Specialisation (Judiciary and Judicial Services) Specialisation (Media and Entertainment Laws) Specialisation (ICT and Cyber Laws) Specialisation (Integrated Defense Services and Security Laws)

Mandatory papers: Paper 1: Comparative Public Law and the Systems of Governance (Semester I); Paper 2: Research Methods and Legal Writing (Semester I); Paper 3: Law and Justice in a Globalised World (Semester II) Specialisation: Total specialisation papers six consisting of Special Paper 1 and Special Paper 2 in each of the specialisation areas; Paper X: LLM Dissertation in any area of the specialisations. Admission to 1-Year LLM will be based on Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2013). Currently, GNLU offers 40 seats in the LLM Program.
