A. Summary of the Lesson Plan: This lesson is basically a review of all the material about the 13 colonies. This day is fairly easy due to the big project they are going to have, B. Target Population: Grade Level: 5th Skill Level: all skill levels Grouping: whole group (discussion, answer review), small group (review web activity), individual (warm up activity) C. Materials: Chart handout Computers

D. Objectives: o NV State Social Studies Standards H1.5.5 Describe the social, political, and religious lives of people in the New England, Middle, and Southern colonies. H1.5.6 Identify individuals and groups responsible for founding and settling the American colonies.

G6.5.2 Identify U.S. regions in which historical events occurred, i.e., thirteen colonies, Underground Railroad, and California gold fields. Student-Friendly Standards H1.5.5. I can describe different aspects of the people who lived in the colonies. H1.5.6. I can identify different groups who are responsible for finding and settling in the colonies. G6.5.2 I can identify places that have some historical events that have occurred in America

E. Procedure: 1. Students will be asked to write down the 13 colonies from memory. We will review the names of the colonies. 2. As a class, we will do a location map quiz online: http://www.softschools.com/social_studies/13_colonies_map/ - students will be selected at random to come up and try to locate a certain state with the help of their classmates.

3. In small groups, students will be given a chart to write down as much as they remember about the churches, farms, parks, food, religions, and schools of each of the 3 regions of the 13 colonies. 4. We will review their answers and use the site http://www.socialstudiesforkids.com/articles/ushistory/13coloniesschool.htm as a review site. 5. CLOSURE: Students will be asked to name the 13 colonies once again. F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? Since this is a review, students will just be reviewingthere will be no assessment. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. This is a review; students will be reviewing everything they have learned during this unit. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? The entire lesson seems fairly easy. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? Nothing seems as if it will be challenging. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? Students will be doing a project. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? Review the information. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? Nothing is wrong with the lesson. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? Nothing was difficult.
