2013 Information
Details
The
Show
and
Sale
is
an
opportunity
for
4-H
participants
to
learn
about
raising
livestock
including
feeding,
health
maintenance,
record
keeping,
showing,
and
selling.
The
profits
earned
through
this
program
are
used
to
fund
future
projects
as
well
as
future
education.
It
is
with
support
from
people
like
you
that
make
this
program
possible.
To
further
the
education
of
all
the
exhibitors,
carcass
contests
for
each
species
will
be
held.
Through
these
contests
the
participants
will
be
able
to
judge
their
individual
feed
programs
as
well
as
their
breed
selection.
Market
steers
will
be
sent
to
a
packer
for
the
carcass
contest.
Buyers
wishing
to
resell
their
purchases
will
be
paid
on
a
carcass
grade
and
yield
basis
by
the
packer.
Local
delivery
can
also
be
arranged
for
the
carcasses
processed
at
the
packer
for
a
small
slaughtering/processing
fee.
All
other
animals
will
be
resold
on
Tuesday,
May
7th
at
the
Fauquier
Livestock
Exchange
UNLESS
hauling/processing
arrangements
have
been
made
prior
to
the
sale
by
the
buyer.
At
the
end
of
the
sale
we
will
be
selling
a
market
hog
donated
by
the
Ott
family
to
benefit
the
Susan
P.
Rucker
Show
and
Sale
Scholarship
Fund.
Proceeds
from
this
sale
benefit
the
graduating
seniors
who
have
3+
consecutive
years
as
an
active
Show
and
Sale
participant.

You have many other options for the market animal you purchase including your own freezer, sharing with family, business gifts, and/or donations. Your butcher can help you decide how to process the meat according to your individual needs and likes.
