International Federation of Health Records Organizations (IFHRO)

Report from Yukiko Yokobori Regional Director (Southeast Asia)

1. IFHROs History
IFHRO was established on 29th May 1968 in Stockholm, Sweden - This was 16 years, 5 international congresses, many thousands of letters and lots of hard work after the idea was first discussed during the first international meeting in London in 1952. (History of IFHRO, P.J. Watson) The Federation was established as a forum for national organizations committed to improvements in the use of health records in their countries, and to support national associations and health records professionals to implement and improve health records and the systems which support them. IFHRO is a non-profit organization in official relations with the World Health Organization (WHO) as a nongovernmental organization (NGO).
