Also, if you’d like you could prepare a chart for before and after the fall. My husband did
this by drawing a T—then on the left we listed what it was like for them in the Garden of
Eden, and on the right what it was like after the Fall.
~ Adam and Eve were created in God’s image (see Genesis 1:26-27).
Heavenly Father created Adam and Eve in his own image. This means that they
and their children (including us) look like him. We have feet, hands, ears, eyes,
nose… like he does!
~ In the Garden of Eden they were innocent and lived in God’s presence.
Adam and Eve lived first in the Garden of Eden. [show 1st picture]
Did Adam and Eve have agency in the Garden of Eden? (yes)
What did they choose to do there? (partake of the fruit of knowledge of good and
evil)
~ Because they partook of the forbidden fruit, they were cast out of the garden
(see Moses 4:19–31). This is called the Fall.
What happened because they ate the fruit?
-They had to leave the Garden of Eden (show 2nd picture) and were separated
from God
-They could make mistakes
-They could get sick and get hurt. They would die.
-They could learn and become more like Heavenly Father
-They could have children
It was a blessing that Adam and Eve ate the fruit and left the Garden of Eden. It
was also an important part of Heavenly Father’s plan for us.
The Lord taught Adam and Eve the plan of salvation, and that Jesus Christ
would make it possible for them to return to live with Heavenly Father again. By
following His plan, we can be happy in this life, and we can return to live with
Heavenly Father.
