ROMEO & JULIET.

Introduction. Two families with the same dignity lived in a beautiful placed called Verona, Italy. Driven by previous hatreds, those families caused further unrest, in which the blood stained hands of citizens and streets.

From life, arises a pair of lovers with a seemingly unpopular relationship, and which tragic ending, ended their strife between their parents.

The tragic events of love marked by death and constant fury of their parents are going to be the main topic of this mid-term paper. Overview of any issues: Disagreements, resentment, hatred, revenge, love, illusions, disappointments, strife.

Body. This history begins in a public square in Verona City where the Capulets Family servants (Samson and Gregory) were arguing about all the hatred they had against the Montesco Family and about how annoying the Montesco were and Samson also said that if he had the opportunity of killing someone of theirs, he will do it, even if the strife was only between the heads of household.

Later, the Montescos Servants (Abraham and Balthazar) came by and Samson started to provoke a fight, so both of them decided to react and the four servants started sword fighting, the police arrived and separated them so they stop fighting, and at the same time, the prince stop by and told Mr. Montesco and Mr. Capulet that all of their hatreds stained all the streets and if that happened again they would be sentenced to death. Mrs. Montesco asked to Benvolio (Romeos Cousin) for his son, (Romeo) who had been sad days ago, but Benvolio didnt know anything about him, so Mr. Montesco leaves and instantly Romeo

appears, telling Benvolio the reason of his sadness which was caused because he was in love of a girl who never will be able to love him back, named Rosaline.

In another square are Paris (relative of the prince) and Capulet talking about the proposal Paris had made to him about getting engaged with his daughter. Capulet told Paris that his daughter was just 13 years old, and he cannot approve that proposal, so Paris replied that yet other girls younger than her, were mothers so Capulet accepted the proposal with the only condition of letting her daughter mature a little bit more. Capulet decided to offer a dinner at his house and sent a servant to deliver some invitations to the people of the city; but one of the problems was that his servant wasnt able to read or write cause he never learned how, so while he was walking on the street, he met Romeo and Benvolio and asked them for help, cause he didnt know who they really were, so Romeo, help him and read the invitations out loud, noticing that there was a little possibility to find his lover Rosaline at that dinner, and they decided to assist.

Juliet made her appearance walking down the stairs, and Romeo saw her sidelong, causing him to fall deeply in love; but while he decides to go and talk to her, Theobald (Capulets member family) recognizes Romeo and decides to take out his sword and kill him, but Mr. Capulet ask him to calm down and leave him alone.

Romeo and Juliet after a long talk kissed each other and suddenly her baby sitter arrives and tells Juliet that her mother (Mrs. Capulet) is looking for her; in that moment Romeo noticed that his Juliet was one of the Capulets and realizes that he felt in love with his enemy, and something similar happens to Juliet.

Romeo looked for Juliets bedroom and found her at her balcony, so he went up without her seeing him, he surprises her and started talking about their love, but after a long time, Juliet begs Romeo to leave because if someone sees him, they would kill him, and after Romeo decides to leave, he asked her to marry him, and she said yes.

Romeo visits Fray Lorenzo and tells him about his amorousness with Juliet and that he wants him to marry them. The Juliets baby sitter tells Juliet to go to the church with Fray Lorenzo, and finally they both got married.

When Romeo arrives to his house, Theobald took out his sword and Romeo decides to surrender instantly because he didnt want to disturb or cause problems, but at the end, they both fought and Theobald dies, so Romeo had to run away so the prince doesnt see him, but when the prince arrived, Benvolio had to explain everything as it was, and the prince condemned Romeo to death.

After knowing what happened with her beloved, she decides to send him a ring with her baby sitter, and when Romeo receives it, he decides to leave immediately.

Juliets dad decides to hurry the weddings issues with Paris. Romeo went to see Juliet for a last time, and after Romeos departure,

Juliet goes with Fray Lorenzo to ask for some help. He says to her that he had a dream, and that God let him know how to help her, so he gave her a dangerous passion that she had to drink in her wedding so people would think she will be dead, and she will wake up 48 hours later after taking the poison, and that he would send someone to tell to Romeo the truth about what was happening to her.

And she did it. She drank it at her wedding and right before she had to say I do, she fell to the floor. Her mother came, and declares her death. Everybody was surprised, scared, sadand took her to the graveyard.

Unfortunately, Romeo wasnt warned, and some rumors started running. When he found out, he got scared and angry at the same time, and when to a drug store to buy a very potential poison to kill himself.

He went to Juliets crypt and saw her laying on a surface. He hugged her, and right before he could even drink the lethal poison, Paris came in and saw him standing next to his fiance, so he took out his sword and start fighting with Romeo, but Paris tripped with a pot and fell down, receiving with his body the sword of his adversary, causing him death.

Romeo lies down next to the crypt and drinks the poison, and when he was dead, Juliet opened her eyes, and saw that Romeo and Paris were dead, so she burst into sadness and decides to kill herself with the sword that Romeo had tied to his seatbelt. She stabs herself and got closer to Romeo so she could kiss him and they died together in a forever kiss.

Afterwards, Fray Lorenzo appeared and explained the truth about what happened and everybody decided to come together and the Capulets Family and the Montesco Family decided to forgive each other and a sudden peace emerge.

Now, lets talk about the characters:

Juliet Capulet: She is about to turn 14. She fell in love with Romeo, and they both swear to each other eternal love, knowing that they would have an impossible love because of the rivalry between their families. She killed herself with Romeos dagger. Romeo Montesco: At the very beginning he had a noncorrespondent love with a girl named Rosaline. He went to the Capulets formal dinner where he met Juliet, from which he fell in love. He asked her to marry him. The prince exiled him and when he was gone, he heard some gossips that made him believe Juliet was dead and Romeo decides to kill himself. Prince: He is the voice of the authority. He only appears three times when the families are fighting. He punished Romeo with a forever exile and at the end he appears when Romeo and Juliet are dead. Paris: He is a relative from the prince and pretends to marry Juliet. He is described as a handsome and a rich guy. His last appearance was at the crypt when Juliet was lying down and fought against Romeo. He dies. Juliets baby sitter: Shes Juliets confidante and shes like a second mother to her. She is also one of the few people who support the romance between Romeo and Juliet.

Theobald: Hes Juliets annoying cousin and the main villain. And he is killed by Romeo. Capulet: Hes the patriarch of the Capulet family and the father of Juliet. He is very rich, but not aristocratic, so it cant be called Mr. Capulet. He likes to have fun and party. Capulet believes he knows what is best for Juliet, so when Paris says he wants the hand of his daughter, he replied to wait a while for his child to mature. Montesco: Patriarch of the house, Romeos father and Benvolios uncle. He is rich; he cares a lot about the sadness of his son. Benvolio: Montescos nephew. He hates fighting. Tries Romeo to forget Rosaline. He is the only descendant who survived.

So, what to expect about life? Some people say that we came to this world for being loved and love back, and others just say we came here for no reason at all. I certainly believe the first affirmation. But as my philosophy teacher says: wishes are tied to suffering, this means that when you are wishing or expecting something to happened, you are going to suffer, because you are not enjoying the thing you have, you just want something with a lot of expectations, even though if that is not as essential as it seems. For example: If I wish to have a castle, I am going to try to do my best for getting it, but if I take a long time, or if I dont even get it,

Im going to suffer because of that, and I wont be able to realize, or I will do it later, that I already had a place where to live and that satisfices all my basic needs. So, what do I need a castle for, If Im going to suffer while Im waiting for it?

Conclusion. This was a very dramatic play, that shows how things were many centuries ago. I found very sad that two people who were in love, had to kill themselves because of a non-sense problem and it was so sad too, that the only event that will lead to solve this hatreds was the Romeo and Juliets dead. We must enjoy life as the way it is, follow our hearts and be true to ourselves.
