The cosmopolitan character of CEUs student body and teaching staff was one of the many reasons I applied to the University, but its hard to describe what its like to be a part of such a community for the first time. It continues to have a profound effect on how I think about history. The diversity of backgrounds and experiences my colleagues bring to the classroom has broadened my knowledge of Central and Eastern Europe in a way that I can truly begin to place my research in a comparative frame. And the conversations I have with classmates outside the seminar rooms continue to enrich my understanding of contemporary politics in a rapidly changing part of Europe.
