Not since Harry Potter has there been a book series that has swept the world as Stephanie Meyers Twilight series has. The fourth book, Breaking Dawn, was released this summer to massive lines and hysteria. The highly anticipated film adaptation of the first novel, Twilight, has caused pandemonium since it first was announced.

Fears that fans of the books wouldnt latch on to the big screen version of their heroes were quickly dispelled as screenings sold out in online pre-buys alone. Within days of its release, movie execs green lit the next film in the series, New Moon. Hordes of screaming girls (and even grown women like myself), toting their Team Edward t-shirts, continue to flock to theatres to see the film twice, three times, even more. But the big question remains: is it worth the hype? 13 to 16. Individual tickets are $20 and a subscription for all four productions costs is $75. The awards brunch will be held on Sunday, May 17 at the Holiday Inn Select, Kanata for a cost of $25

The answer is yes. The film wont win an Oscar; lets not kid ourselves. However, it is a very well done adaptation of a book that is held in the hearts of young people around the world. Managing to stay true to the plot of the novel almost religiously, Twilight creates a wonderful journey for fans, and has made instant superstars of its young leads. The film cannot compare to the novel, but it does provide a wonderful adaptation. per person. Tickets go on sale Dec. 1 at the Kanata Theatre Box Office. For tickets, call 613-831-4435.
