Jumaa Prayer

for the Muslims of Africa and beyond

West Africa Advanced School of Theology 17 May 2013

Intercede with Us for the Muslim World!
When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Fatherthe Spirit of truth who goes out from the Fatherhe will testify about me. And you also must testify, for you have been with me from the beginning (John 15:26-27). As we celebrate the Day of Pentecost, may the Holy Spirit who now lives in us help us to testify about Jesus!

Today's Prayer Requests: From Students and Alumni

MALI: Pray for an Assemblies of God pastor and his family who are in a northern village. They had fled along with others from the north, but he felt strongly that the Lord wanted him to return to what is now rebel territory. Pray that the Lord will strengthen him and his family and give them the courage to stand firm. Their return has impressed the people, and the Lord has miraculously protected them. Pray that their presence there will continue to be a great testimony and that through this the Lord will touch many hearts. Praise God also that radio and television programs broadcasting the Good News can still be heard in the north; may many hear and believe! NIGERIA: Several students ask that we pray concerning the Boko Haram terrorists who are seeking to establish an Islamic state in the north. Recently they have kidnapped women and children, claiming retaliation against military forces who have detained wives and children of their members. In the past 2 weeks Boko Haram members have killed more than 50 soldiers and police and 50+ civilians, freed more than 100 prisoners, and burned at least 13 villages,. Because of the escalating violence, many churches no longer meet formally, or they meet under armed guard. Please pray for the pastors and believers, that their lights may shine and that the Lord will give them opportunities to speak the message of peace. Pray that the Spirit will lead questioning members of Boko Haram to repentance and to Jesus. SENEGAL: Pray for Bible institute students who will soon begin serving as interns in various churches for the next year. Pray that as they find their place in ministry in this Muslim-dominated country, the Lord would use them to bring many to Him and fill them with His wisdom as they apply what they have learned in the classroom. Pray also that more will answer God's call to the ministry. The workers there are very few.

From Global Initiative*

Pray for the 177 million Muslims of India. Pray in particular for the Siddi people of western India. This small, nominally Muslim group has its roots in Africa, from where they were brought as slaves generations ago. Marginalized, poor, superstitious, and resistant to Christian witness, the Siddi need Jesus! See more information and prayer points at http://www.30-days.net/muslims/muslims-in/asia-south-central/the-siddis-of-gujarat-india/.

For Muslim Women**

Pray that Muslim mothers everywhere would find their significance in Christ. Mother's Day has recently been or will soon be celebrated in many countries. Pray that the Lord will reveal himself to Muslim mothers, that they may come to know Him and raise their children to love Him.
