TeamLuby Update Week of May 20, 2013 Spring Street School Mrs.

Lubys class

Our concert with the OMS Select Choir is on Tuesday night. This is always a wonderful evening! All of a sudden the children seem so grown up ---sigh!!! We will have DRAs this week for many students. All School Meeting Friday Thank you to our chaperones who came along to SELCO on Friday. The children were very well behaved and looked great in their new t-shirts! Amelia brought someone elses bag home so if your child claims he/she has does not have the correct bag, they could be right! Please let me know. The Student Council will be selling Be a Buddy, Not a Bully bracelets for $1.00 beginning Thursday. Dont forget sneakers on Tuesday and recorders on Wednesday! Math Club returns on Wednesday from 8 - 8:30 AM, topic unit review *************************************

We will review the uniform debate essays before moving onto the value of a penny! Is it worth continuing to produce

them or weed them out of circulation? Research from both sides of the debate will be discussed! We may even create our own skinny mini poetry on Friday!

Math We will complete Unit 11 by reviewing 3-D objects, volumes of rectangular prisms and adding/subtractions negative integers. Our assessment will probably be on Wed.

Social Studies We will finish the informational texts and drawings. Science - from the desk of Mrs. Liporto We are nearing the end of our explorations with magnets and electricity. All students were successful in creating an electromagnet in class this past week and should be able to tell you what it is and how you can make it stronger. This week we will continue to work with electromagnets and will be exploring with various electricity and magnetism websites.
