Hall Green Neighbourhood Forum Meeting We held our second public meeting at Highfield Hall on Thursday 16th May 2013 which was attended by approximately 45 people. Summer Market - The Chair presented an overview of some of the work already undertaken and gave an introduction on future plans for actions and events. Information was provided on the upcoming Summer Market scheduled to take place on Sunday 14th July 2013 at the Cambrai Gardens site in front of South and City College Birmingham.

Guest Speaker - All of Hall Greens councillors attended the meeting and we were lucky enough to be joined by Rev Martin Stephenson from St Peter's Church who spoke passionately about his work and how he saw Hall Green. He told us how he believed that the concept of neighbourhood was really important and that an Arts Festival would foster cross-generational and cross-faith links with many people in the world of WeAreB28. Charitable status to be explored - The meeting approved a move to allow the committee to investigate further the registration of WeAreB28 as a company limited by guarantee and as a Charity. This would provide security to the committee, who are presently liable and also provide access to further funds accessible via charitable status and tax incentives such as gift-aid. WeAreB28 Community Signposting Event - We held our first signposting event on Saturday 18th, in partnership with the library and it was great to see so many groups give up their time to join us. Although we did not get mobbed, we did have a steady stream of people pop in for a cup of tea and a piece of cake, and those who took the time told us they were surprised to find so many things going on across Hall Green. We plan to hold another event in September.

Arts Festival - Plans were also unveiled about an Arts Festival to be held across various venues during the week commencing Monday 7th October and finishing on Saturday 12th October 2013. Contributions were received from the floor and some great suggestions and ideas were put forward. It was felt important that participants in the festival should represent a range of professional and amateur artists, performers and community groups. Specific ideas for activities ranged from dance to craft experiences, art shows, music, theatre and workshops. The festival would showcase the true diversity of art and by appealing across a wide audience would ensure an arts experience that was far ranging. If you would like to organise an event, take part or volunteer to help please let us know. You can fill in the form on the website.

A cup of tea and a piece of cakethank you!

Mapping of Hall Green We are currently working on a project that maps out services / groups / activities / organisations and anything that happens in Hall Green. This is a huge piece of work but if anyone can offer any help please let us now or send information via website. Middle Earth Weekend we attended the events held at Sarehole Mill and despite the weather not being as kind as it could have been, we had a lovely time. There was a lot to see and do with a visual and audio treat from the very unique Beorma Morris as well as inspiring poetry recitals from Stephen Morrison-Burke, Birminghams very own poet laureate for 2013 and runner up Hayley Frances.
