THINGS THE CAREER CENTER LADY MADE ME PUT ON HERE:

National Student Advertising Competition, copy intern August 2012 - March 2013 Contributed to concepts and copy for Wal-Marts Glidden brand paint marketing plan that will never be used by Wal-Mart or Glidden, but is probably a lot better than what the other schools came up with. Maneater Student Newspaper, beat writer August 2009 - May 2011 I came to school to become the next Bill Simmons. After writing over 100 articles on the Mizzou football, basketball and baseball teams for the school paper, I realized that wasnt the type of writing for me. But the experience in creating long, detailed copy should pay off someday. Probably not though. MUTV Student TV Station, staff writer August 2009 - May 2010 Wrote press releases for a website that nobody visits for a student channel that nobody watches about sporting events that nobody goes to. My releases somehow got thousands of views.

THINGS THAT PAID MINIMUM WAGE BUT LEFT ME WITH MAXIMUM PERSPECTIVE:
Hardwood flooring- installing floors is like making an ad: both are futile fights for perfection Cart wrangler- no better time to free your mind and think than while retrieving 300 loose shopping carts Food server- forced to gain people skills over years as a banquet and restaurant server Driving range hand- 10,000 scattered golf balls + 7 acres of muddy countryside = work ethic YMCA daycare- inspiration can come from anywhere even from watching 5-year-olds play DDR all day Eldest of 9 children- setting an example and paving the way for the next 8 since 1992

THINGS I SHOULD BE PROUD OF:

University of Missouri Deans List- 2009, 2010, 2011 I was surprised too. Glenbrook South Oracle Newspaper- Editor of the Year 2009 The high school newspaper: the morbid mainstay of any wannabe writers resume. 2009 Regional Headline Writing Champion for the Central Suburban League South Conference Long name, little honor. And yes: writing is apparently a certifiable high school sport now. I didnt mind it- the paper gave me a lot more playing time than the football team ever did.

THINGS IM ACTUALLY PROUD OF:

Habitat for Humanity- volunteer home builder Restored trailers in low-income reservation communities with complete strangers. Gave piggyback rides to Lakota children before discovering they all had lice (Fairbanks, AK 09 and Eagle Butte, SD 11). Mizzou Rock-a-Thon- chairmen of stage committee One of six chairmen for our big biennial philanthropy that raised over $120,000 for American Cancer Society in 2013. And by big, I mean the biggest fraternity fundraiser in existence. Alpha Epsilon Pi Fraternity- house manager Served on nine-man executive board for our 120-man chapter. Theres no way to twist being in a fraternity into a reason to hire me, so I will stop right there.
