1 General Description
1.1 Proper Use
The electronic counter, EZ and EZD, may only be mounted on oval wheel meters from Bopp & Reuther Messtechnik GmbH. They are for the display of the volume, flow and pulse transmission. The technical data, the information in the configuration data sheet, the information on the data plate and from the meter data plate are authoritative for the employment of the meters. The electronic meters of type AG5xEZD and AG5xEZ can be used for all oval wheel meters with Reed sensors, AG5x, and the electronic meters of type AG4xEZD can be used for all oval wheel meters with Wiegand sensors. The manufacturer is not liable for any damages, which occur due to improper use or use, which is not accordance with these instructions. If employed in an explosion-endangered area, the valid regulations and standards are to be systematically observed.
1.3 Warranty
The scope and the period of warranty are found in the contractual terms of delivery. Any warranty claims require that the instrument is properly installed and placed into operation according to the operating instructions, which apply to the instrument. The required installation placing in operation and servicing work may only be performed by qualified and authorized personnel.
1.4 Repairs
The instrument is to be sent to Bopp & Reuther Messtechnik GmbH for repairs. For all work on the opened instrument, the direct short-circuiting of the installed lithium cell is not allowed. An explosive atmosphere could be ignited. The valid regulations concerning the opening and repairing of electrical equipment are to be observed. For the battery fed model, AG5xEZ, the replacement of the lithium cell, which is specially equipped with a cable connector and current-limiting resistor, is allowable in an Ex-area. The smaller battery (battery buffered RAM), which is firmly soldered, for the NAMUR model (AG5xEZD and AG4xEZD) may only be replaced by Bopp & Reuther Messtechnik GmbH or an authorized repair facility.

7 Operating Overview
7.1 Taking in Operation
Place the oval wheel meter in operation according to the installation and maintenance instructions for oval wheel meters. The electronic meters are delivered, if nothing to the contrary is prescribed, according to operation mode 2 with permanent flow display and require no adjustments. For the models AG4xEZD and AG5xEZD, the NAMUR power supply must be connected.

7.2.3 Operating When Set To Operation Mode 3 (only for model AG5x...)
Requirements: 1. Both Reed sensors must be connected. 2. The flow display is "Permanent." 3. The functions "Forward and Return Identification" and "Reaction to Alarm and Warning" are activated. When meter runs backwards, the warning message "E13" appears.
Malfunction: When the meter runs backwards, the return quantity is interpreted as a malfunction quantity. The return and the malfunction quantity meters are incremented. The warning message can only be deleted with the switching magnet or through the serial interface with the SensorPort program. During the execution of the reset-function the sum counter increases the amount of the main counter. The return quantity goes lost. Normal Operation: When the meter runs backwards, the return meter is incremented and the main meter is decremented. There is no effect on the malfunction quantity meter. When the meter runs forwards after this, the warning message is deleted automatically. During execution of the reset-function the sum counter is increased by the total of the main and return counters. Malfunction: When the meter runs backwards, the return amount is interpreted as a malfunction quantity. The return and malfunction quantity meters are incremented. The warning message can only be deleted with the switching magnet or through the serial interface with the SensorPort program. If the warning E13 is not deleted during following counter advance the return counter is decremented and the main counter stops until the return counter achieves 0 During execution of the reset-function the sum counter is increased by the difference of the main and return counters. Normal Operation: When the meter runs backwards, there is no effect on all meters. When afterwards the meter runs forwards, the warning message is deleted automatically. During the execution of the reset-function the sum counter is increased by the amount of the main counter.

7.3.1 SensorPort
You can operate the instrument with a PC or laptop and the SensorPort 2 operating software in conjunction with the IF232 interface. The meter data can be read out and the configuration data can be changed. The general SensorPort functions are available in separate operating instructions. The connection of the interface is done using the interface plug on the connection circuit board. See the diagram in chapter 2, System Description.
The IF 232 interface may only be used in atmospheres, which are not explosion-endangered.

The number of digits after the decimal point in the quantity displays The maximum number of digits after the decimal points is dependent on the K factor setting: "3" if K Factor > 100 "2" "1" "0" if 10 < K Factor 100" if 1< K Factor 10 if K Factor 1

Output behavior:
Only for models with NAMUR power supply. Warning: Depending on the position of the slide switch, output 3 (terminals 5+6) or output 1 (terminals 1+2) is set as warning output. The identification of warning messages is possible, if the function "Reaction to Alarm and Warning" is activated. Scaled pulses: Depending on the position of the slide switch, output 3 or output 1 is set to scaled pulses. Active: Alarm and warning messages are shown on the display. The corresponding alarm or warning output is switched. Only for models with NAMUR power supply. Scaling factor of the scalable pulse output in Pulses/L, which is dependent of the K factor setting: "10" or "100" if K Factor > 100 "1" or "10" if 10 < K Factor 100 "0.1" or "1" if 1 < K Factor 10 "0.01" or "0.1" if K Factor 1

Setting K factor: P-Key Programming key. The meter switches to the programming mode. The third identification field from the left is highlighted. The K factor and the decimal point are shown. The value of the digit, which is marked by the identification field, is increased by 1 when you push the key. The value of the digit, which is marked by the identification field, is reduced by 1 when you push the key. When you push the return key, the next digit to the right of the digit, which is presently marked, is marked by the identification field and can now be set.
When all digits have been set, the K factor is accepted by pushing the return key again and the display then moves to the main meter. The last position of the identification field on the right is highlighted. You can now set the decimal point for the volume display.
Setting the decimal point: You can change the decimal point in the programming mode in the main meter using the + / - (> / <) keys. When you push the return key, the decimal point is accepted and the highlighting of the identification field disappears and the display is shown in its basic status. At the same time, the decimal points of the malfunction quantity meter and the return meter are changed along with the main meter.
Setting Meter to Zero: The simultaneous pushing of the + / - (> / <) keys in the basic status sets the display of the main meter, the return meter and the malfunction quantity meter to zero. At the same time, the sum meter, which cannot be erased, is increased internally by the amount in the main meter. This insures that no volume amount is lost.
