Ships open to the public

There are five ships open to visit on Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 25 - 27 between11am and 4pm. HMS Edinburgh Cammell Laird Wet Basin HMS Pembroke Canning Half Tide Dock Kulakov Cruise Liner Terminal Iroquois Cruise Liner Terminal Groemitz Canning Dock Ships arrive throughout Thursday and Friday
Access is free of charge and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware that access to the warships will involve ascending gangways and is therefore not suitable for those with restricted mobility. Long queues are anticipated.

Saturday, May 25

11.30am Veterans and their families gather at the Cunard Building, where a procession led by Chinese lion dancers, Indian drummers and troops from the Polish community for a poignant wreath-laying ceremony. 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm Field gun displays at Salthouse Quay, Albert Dock 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm Synchronised Club Swinging, Pier Head 1pm Battle of the Mersey Armed forces display a rescue of a ship captured by 'pirates' featuring a Sea King helicopter and assault ships. Watch from anywhere on waterfront. 1.30pm A Spitfire and Hurricane aircraft will fly over the waterfront in a Battle of Britain memorial flight. Any where along the waterfront will provide a great vantage point (Please note, this is weather dependent).

2.30pm and 4.30pm China Pearl Dance Performance with 24 festival drums, Mann Island Basin 9.30pm to midnight Morse code Laser light show projected on the Royal Liver Building to commemorate the work of Alan Turing who was instrumental in cracking the Enigma code. This can be viewed from near and afar.

Sunday, May 26
12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm Field gun displays at Salthouse Quay, Albert Dock 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm Synchronised Club Swinging, Pier Head 12.30pm to 1.30pm Commemorative March with platoons from the Merchant Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary, Regulars,

Reservists and Cadets from the Royal Navy, Army and Royal Air Force. The route is along Rodney Street, Mount Pleasant, Hope Street, down Upper Duke Street finishing at the Anglican Cathedral. 12.30 A flypast featuring a Swordfish plane and four helicopters - two Sea Kings, one Merlin, and one Lynx - will come into view along the river. It will fly over the HMS Bulwark at Alexandra Dock across the city centre down and over the Cathedral in a tribute to the veterans and service personnel gathering at the Cathedral. 2.30pm Battle of the Mersey Armed forces display a rescue of a ship captured by 'pirates' featuring a Sea King helicopter and assault ships. Watch from anywhere on waterfront. 9.30pm to midnight Morse code Laser light show projected on the Royal Liver Building to commemorate the work of Alan Turing who was instrumental in cracking the Enigma code. Monday, May 27

12 noon, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm Field gun displays at Salthouse Quay, Albert Dock 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, and 3pm Synchronised Club Swinging, Pier Head 1pm to 1.45pm Raft Race organised by 156 Transport Regiment, Salthouse Dock 3pm Battle of the Mersey Armed Forces display a rescue of a ship captured by 'pirates' featuring a Sea King helicopter and assault ships. Watch from anywhere on waterfront.

Tuesday, May 28
2pm to 5pm Visiting ships co-ordinated departure for the biggest gathering of naval and civilian craft seen on the Mersey in recent years. Anywhere on the waterfront will offer a great vantage point.

Museums

Ferries
Friday There will be running additional sailings with a live commentary (10am 3pm). Commuter services will be running as normal. Saturday to Monday Additional sailings with a live commentary (10am 5pm). Tuesday Additional sailings with a live commentary. (12 noon last cruise, 12.30pm direct service to

Seacombe only). Regular service will be suspended and there will operating a 'farewell cruise' (evening commuter service is suspended). U-boat Story has extended opening hours during the commemorations (10am 6pm, last admission 5pm). Spaceport is open as usual (10am 5pm, last admission 3.30pm)
