I mustrespondto all the talk and
articles that have appeared in the
AZLE News. First of all, I am a
citizen of Pelican Bay, and I ran for
office because I wanted to protect
the laws and fight for the rights of
our citizens. Yes, f defend the
departments in our city and I have
witnessed these departments in
action. There are those who do not
live in our city, yet are so quick to
point fingers or spread rumors.
They attack our police as well as
the fire department. Could it be
that these poor folks are the ones
who have an agenda against our
city?? The police department has
improved the quality of life for our
residents by removing drugso
dealers & users. This department
has put the rights of law abiding
citizens above those who wish to
destroy our youth with drugs.
Traf{ic violators are learning that if
they drive in our city, you will
follow the laws. And for the most
parto law abiding citizens are
feeling protected by these officers.
As one member of council, I am
ensuring that any oflicer who
comes to work for the city; are
qualified, trained in their fields,
and with elean records.
Corruption in ANY form will not
be allowed to run wild in our city
anymore; NOT on my watch!
Our fire department is coming
together with the guidance of the
new fire chief. Mutual aid
agreements are being made witb
our neighbor cities, professionalism
is returning, grants are being filed,
and this department is now legal in
all aspects of the law and fire
agencies. Chief Stetzel's vision for

POLICE/ CODE
ENFORCEMENT ACTTVITY
Last month, the city's police
department was granted Code
Enforcement authority. Chief
Frankum issued 7 warning
citations this month, and
officers will be looking for code
violations while on patrol. The
department issued l2l
citations, 18 misdemeanors,
and 8 felony charges. Chief
Frankum asked council to
approve a city vehicle storage
facility. The city is losing
thousands of dollars by not
charging a fee when vehicles
are impounded. Council
approved the facility. Approval
was also given for the purchase
of fence material.
FIRE DEPARTMENT
REPORT
_Paul Stetzel was approved as
the citSr's new fire chief. He is
the city's first fire chief to be
paid L small salary. Chief
Stetzel is highly quafified in
fire department knowledge.
Under his direction, many
things have improved. The new

and grant funds are being filed
