WHY TOEIC TEST?

TOEIC is the abbreviated form for Test of English for International Communication which was initiated in Japan and conceived by Educational Testing Service (ETS) which is a U.S test development institution that analysis a persons English communication ability in workplaces abroad. TOEIC tests are basically used to evaluate a persons communicative ability to apply for U.K visas either for work, education or for settling down. TOEIC tests are a standard for assessing a persons English which includes listening, reading, speaking and writing skills and is accepted worldwide by companies and institutes. Companies make use of TOEIC exams to promote their employees and also recruiting new employees. TOEIC tests are broadly divided into two categories namely:

1. Listening and Reading Test The listening and reading test is a multiple choice test using pen or pencil of about two hours duration which comprises of both listening and reading comprehension passages. The total score allocated to listening and reading test is 990 marks. The listening section deals with the response of the examinee on the basis of conversations, talks etc. Whereas in the reading section the participant completes incomplete sentences, completes texts and most importantly reads comprehensions. 2. Speaking and Writing test The speaking and writing test has been introduced more recently in 2006 in the TOEIC curriculum which is an online test. The examinee can give either of the two tests that is

either speaking without giving writing test. The pronunciation, vocabulary, fluency and grammar is evaluated in speaking tests with the help of certain tasks like reading aloud, describing a picture, express opinions and responding to questions when certain information is provided. Similarly, in writing tests grammar, vocabulary and clarity of thoughts is measured by writing sentences on a picture, expressing opinions on a topic and by writing essays. TOEIC tests are conducted every month across India at affordable rates and at various CPS test centers spread across the metro cities.
