Lex Gillette, a blind long-jumper from North Carolina, participated in the 2004, 2008 and 2012 Paralympic Games. Before an event, his guide shows him around the course. During competitions, the guide positions Gillette at the starting line, then goes to the sand pit, where he claps and calls steadily so the athlete can follow the sounds and run straight ahead. Gillette knows to jump when he hits his 16th step. Unable to see where hes going, nor the line from which to jump, nor where hell land, Gillette entrusts himself fully to his guide. The result? Three consecutive silver medals, and a world record set in 2011. Were all blind to what lies ahead in life, so our guide, the Holy Spirit, goes before us and beckons us forward in the way we should go. Entrusting ourselves to God, we can do great things.

February Mission of the Month One House at a Time (OHAAT) Beds for Kids Program
No child should have to sleep on the floor. But in Philadelphia, thousands of children go to bed every night without proper bedding. Thats why OHAAT brings beds and bedding to children who would otherwise be sleeping on the floor. The Beds for Kids program has helped over 3,300 children get the sleep they need to be healthier and better prepared to face every days challenges. Beds for Kids is an ongoing program with help needed year round, but JUMC is focusing on providing support during the month of February. Here's how you can help: 1. Donate Funds. It only takes $161 to provide a bed and bed linens, delivered directly to the home of a child in need. Checks should be addressed to "One House at a Time" and mailed to 411 Susquehanna Rd. Ambler, PA 19002. Donations can also be made online at www.ohaat.org/donate. 2. Donate Sheets and Blankets. Help collect new or like-new sheets and blankets (twin or fullsize only). A collection bin is located in the Friendship Center. 3. Volunteer. On the morning of Saturday, February 23rd, JUMC members will help OHAAT deliver beds to several families living in Philadelphia. A signup sheet is located in the Friendship Center, or contact Becky Sedmak for more information - becky@ohaat.org or 215-346-6427.

What Jesus doesnt say is often as important as what he says. A classic rabbinic technique involves quoting part of a verse and leaving the rest unsaid. A rabbi such as Jesus knew that his followers, having memorized much Scripture, would recognize the beginning and supply the end the clincher themselves. Its like when we quip, People in glass houses , knowing our hearers will mentally add shouldnt throw stones. An example is when children shout Hosanna! as Jesus enters Jerusalem on a donkey. Their shouts anger the religious leaders, to whom Jesus says, Have you never read, From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise? (Matthew 21:16, NIV). What he does not say, but what his listeners surely hear in their minds, is the next line: because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger (Psalm 8:2, NIV).

Without uttering the words, Jesus calls the temple leaders enemies of God and praises the children for recognizing his divinity. - Based on Sitting at the Feet of Rabbi Jesus, by Ann Spangler and Lois Tverberg

Bring Students To Christ Disciple Students In Christ GUATEMALA 2013: We still have a few spots left! Our Sr High ministry will be traveling to Guatemala on June 23 29, 2013 for our summer mission trip. We encourage all students in 9th 12th grade to attend this life changing trip! A $300 deposit is due on ASAP for consideration for a spot: we have had a great turnout and there is now a waiting list for a spot. We will be doing fundraising in the spring to significantly lower the cost of the trip. During this trip, we will experience cross-cultural ministry as we do construction projects, work in orphanages, help in food kitchens, as well as worship the Lord. See Nick for more details! We continue to support our Compassion Child Ned. He is now six years old and we have been supporting him for two years. We are also selling THrIVE t-shirts (see picture). All profits from sales on these shirts will go to support Ned. See Nick to buy one! Blessings! Nick Agazarian Youth Pastor jumcyouth@comcast.net 267-243-5490
