You will find a proposal of a touristic system project for the city where I live Cagliari (Italy) You will find requisites, ideas of how to do the project, you will not find the project done. I worked alone all the course, confrontating me just with other people at the MindMixer You will not find social analisys because I chooese to take other data instead of them. I choose to focus on tourism on the wild areas because Im also a naturalistic guide and I know this areas very well and their immense potential. CAGLIARI WHO?
CAGLIARI IS A CITY, CAPITAL OF SARDINIA, A BIG ISLAND IN THE MIDDLE OF MEDITERRANEAN SEA

CAGLIARI WHAT. PURPOSES

1. The issue I would love to improve is the application of tech to tourism and solve a very big issue that we have in our beautiful city: most of tourist don't have any clue to what visit, what the territory offers, how to move. It's everything hidden and left to serendipity in best cases, the area is full of attractions, history, incredible beaches and natural sights but there's no information. 2. Also I want to integrate a very rich and exclusive part of the city, Cagliari is famous to be the only city in Europe with 3 lagoons inside the city and a mountain. The mountain is quite amazing and all this areas are wilds, full of interesting things to see, amazing sightseen and with great story to tell but totally ignored by tourist because they dont know they exist. I want integrate this wild areas in the tourist routes and bring some contents to them using smart sensors, and let tourist experience them. 3. I want create a system of evaluation/feedback to know if the service can be improved and which area are more loved/needs improvements for the tourist.

STREETSEEN DATA
I made the survey comparing typical road in the center of Cagliari (usually visited by the tourist) and wild areas photo totally ignored by tourist asking which was more interesting. (For further infos check my StreetSeen Assignment) http://streetseen.osu.edu/studies/tourism-in-cagliari/ The results show how the naturalistic area (Capo S.Elia and lagoons are the most appreciated). The first 10 photos that get more votes are composed so: 70% photos of ignored wild areas 30% phoos from classic urban touristic center

CAGLIARI BY TOURIST
Cagliari is visited only at the very center, where most of the museums are located, its the center close to the port and the stations. Theres another zone 30 min from the center full of attractions and shops where is quite impossibile to catch a tourist. Most of the monuments doesnt have a legenda, explication or anything that explain or suggest resources. Theres no app, brochure or material with routes for tourist. Just simple maps with museum and other main monumets located. Only thecity official website of tourism have routes not really delveloped by the way http://www.cagliariturismo.it/it/itinerari

I Interwied 10 different foreign tourist at the airport-bs stop, everyone leaving Cagliari asking the follows questions: 1) Did you seen the Cagliari Wild Areas: the lagoons and the mountain Capo S.Elia? Results: 9(No) ; 1 (Maybe); 0 (yes) 2) Would like to have visited them? Results: 7(Yes); 2(maybe); 1 (no) 3) Do you own a smartphone ? Results: 9(yes); 1 (no) 4 If you own it did you use during the trip? Results: 9(yes) ; 0 (no) Tourists interviewed resulted keen to visit wild areas of Cagliari if they knew it and use smartphone

THE ONLY ACTUAL TECH EXPERIMENT IN THE CITY IN THE TOURIST AREA IS THE QR CODE FOR AN ARCHEO SITE. QRs HAVE LIMITED POSSIBILITIES NFC SHOULD BE CONSIDERED IN MOST OF THE CASE, LEAVING QRs ONLY FOR THOSE THAT DOESNT HAVE NFC PHONES TO NOT CREATE DIGITAL DIVIDE

TOURISTIC SYSTEM REQUISITES. WE= PEOPLE MAKING THE SYSTEM

We need to create contents so the tourists can navigate them with the map We need to put sensors in different parts of the areas We need to create different routes , mapping the areas We need to put open WIFI in all the areas the will be touristic, otherwise few people download the contents Basic Contents of the wild areas can be seen in the app even if theres no connection We need to use Open Street Maps more accurated and we can map everything We need to create maps and put orus geolocalizations sensors to have maps more accurated and customizable We have to ask feedback to our tourist to improve the service
