M. Tech Programmes For Teachers of AICTE-recognized Programmes of Degree-Level Engineering Institutions and Working Industry Professionals
The following three M. Tech programmes will be offered for the teachers of AICTE-recognized programmes of Engineering Colleges & working industry professionals: 1. M. Tech in Electrical Engineering 2. M. Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering 3. M. Tech. in Information and Communication Technology The programmes will be offered from July, 2013. Programme Features The features of these programmes and the mode of delivery are elucidated below. Each programme will be of three-year duration. These programmes will be offered in the weekend to facilitate the teachers employed in the engineering colleges and working industry professionals. These programmes will be offered in IIT Kharagpur and in the Extension Centers of the Institute at Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Raipur & Port blair. A mixed mode of teachingthrough video-conferencing interactionwill be adopted in these programmes. and face-to-face

A faculty will deliver a lecture at any of the locations (primarily Kharagpur) and the students at Kharagpur, Kolkata Bhubaneswar ,Raipur & Port blair will be able to attend the lecture and interact with the faculty through direct contact/video-conferencing. The tutorials, seminars, and comprehensive viva-voce examinations will be conducted also in the above-stated mode, as and when required. The lectures, tutorials, and interactions will be recorded in the four Extension Centres and will be stored at the library of each extension center. These will be available to the students for study during specified hours. Students cannot copy these recorded lectures. The recorded lectures, tutorials, and interactions will not be used in subsequent semesters as a substitute for live presentations.

Laboratory classes will be conducted at IIT Kharagpur campus at Kharagpur. Projects and supervisors will be assigned to the students by the Programme Coordinator after the completion of first three semesters. Students will carry out their project work at their institutions and have to be in constant touch with their supervisors. The sponsoring organizations are required to provide laboratory facilities to the students to carry out their M.Tech project works. The sponsoring organizations will allow the students to visit IIT Kharagpur and interact with the supervisors as and when required. There will be two class tests in every subject. The class tests will be conducted at Kharagpur when the students come to the Institute during the last weekend of a month for the laboratory class. Mid-Semester and End-semester examinations will be conducted at the respective Extension Centers with faculty members as invigilators.

Number of Students to be Admitted MaximumTwenty-five in each programme at Kharagpur and in each of the four Extension Centers. Unless minimum, number of students get enrolled in a particular extension centre,in a particular discipline, the program may not be offered through that extension centre.

Programme Fee Fee for each programme is Rs.3 lakh for each student and this is to be paid in three instalments as follows : - At the time of admission Rs. 100000 - Beginning of Second year Rs. 100000 - Beginning of third year Rs. 100000 The programme fee includes the tuition fee and the examination fee. Eligibility for Admission : Persons involved with teaching at AICTE-recognized degree of engineering colleges & Working Industry Professionals are eligible for admission into the programmes. An applicant must have passed in branch B. Tech/MCA specified as listed below, with a minimum of 65% marks in the final qualifying examinations (for SC/ST candidates it is 55%).

-Electronics&Communication BE / B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engg, Electrical & Electronics Engg or Electronics Instrumentation Engg. --Electrical Engineering BE/B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering. -- Information & Communication Technology BE/B.Tech in Computer Science & Engineering, Information Technology or Electronics & Communication Engineering or MCA with Mathematics as a subject during graduation. Application Fee The Application Fee is Rs. 3,000.00 for general category candidates and Rs. 1,500.00 for SC/ST/PD candidates, payable by Demand Draft drawn in favour of CEP-M.Tech on any nationalized bank payable at Kharagpur.

Undertaking from the Sponsoring Institution The sponsoring engineering college or industry must give an undertaking that the Institute/sponsoring industry will permit the candidates to attend lecture classes during the weekends, visit IIT Kharagpur during laboratory class schedules, viva-voce examinations etc.For M.Tech project works, the sponsoring college/industry will allow the candidates to visit IIT Kharagpur for interactions with the supervisors, as and when required. Undertaking from the candidates The candidates selected for admission must give an undertaking that in case they discontinue their services with the sponsoring organization in the middle of the programme, they will inform immediately to IIT Kharagpur and produce a new sponsorship letter from organization, where they joined. If a candidate fails to produce such document, he/she will be asked to discontinue from the M.Tech. programme and the fees already paid will not be refunded. Selection of Candidates The candidates will be asked to appear at a written test and an interview to be held at IIT, Kharagpur.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 1. Please ensure that you are submitting application form completely filled-in, enclosing therewith a Demand Draft for an amount of Rs.3,000/- to be drawn in favour of CEP-M.TECH, payable at Kharagpur.(Rs.1,500/- for SC/ST/PD, copy of certificate in support of the SC/ST/PD claim to be enclosed). Candidate should visit the website http://www.iitkgp.ac.in for the submission of on line application, updated information relating to receipt of completed application, candidates called for interview, selected list of candidates and all other information pertaining to the M.Tech Programme. Candidate should read the Brochure thoroughly before (i) filing in the application and (ii) sending the final print-out of applications (duly forwarded by the Head of Institution). The candidate and the Principal/Head of the Institution forwarding the application should ensure that the application is sent to the Dean of Continuing Education Centre, IIT Kharagpur, Kharagpur 721302 so as to reach on or before 10th June., 2013 by Registered Post or Speed Post only. Applications received after this date will not be considered. On receipt of the applications, acknowledgement will be sent by email. Information given by the candidate in all application print-outs should be same. In case of any difference observed in the data relating to experience, marks, designation, addresses, age etc., his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled at any stage even after selection/admission. Conditional recommendation by the Principal/Head of the Institution will not be accepted. Applications submitted without signatures of the candidate and the appropriate authorities with seal, and/or without the required enclosures will automatically be rejected. Interview schedule is final and cannot be altered/changed under any circumstances. All shortlisted candidates are required to attend written test and interviews at IIT Kharagpur.
