iii ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to acknowledge and thank Allah (Subhanahu Wa Taala) for giving me patience and strength in making this research. This research paper was a miracle to me. I couldnt complete this without His help. Without him, this book is just nothing. I would like to express my sincerest and warm appreciation to our beloved prophet, Muhammad Salallahu Alayhi Wasalam, the best among mankind. He is my second inspiration in doing all things especially in doing this research work. When I think of him, it makes me happy and it gave courage to finish this. Next, our advisers Maam Ma. Venus P. Aman-Maglangit and Prof. Sonny Magno. I want to express my heartfelt gratefulness for helping me to make this work a success. Thank you for all the advices and for your time. Of course, my family for their undying support (physically, mentally, emotionally, and financially).Their love for me makes me strong and encourages me to finish this compilation. I really love them. Next, my Chan family who gave me many memories, good or bad, that made me inspired. And lastly, my UNDECIDED (Chan and Dingel S.Y. 2012-2013) family whom I am with since 2009 here in ISED.

I thank you with all my heart.

v ABSTRACT Gandarosa, Norhanifa P. Amicable Pair: An Investigation. Mindanao State University, Institute of Science Education - Science High School, Marawi City. 2013. Research Advisers: Prof. Sonny M. Magno and Ma. Venus P. Aman-Maglangit

ABSTRACT The main concern of this study is to introduce and investigate Amicable Pairs. This study was concluded to find amicable pairs between numbers 0 to 3001. This study will be of great help to students and other researchers to know or discover new about numbers. Certain numbers were considered to have special properties. One of these special properties is the amicable number. The fact that amicable numbers are an application of many factorizations into primes. As much as any other discipline of number theory, the area of amicable numbers is ripe for breakthrough discovery. This study provides deeper and thicker understanding about amicable number and pair. The researcher showed and illustrated the Amicable Pairs within a certain limitation, from one to three thousand. The study tried to answer the following questions: (1) What are the proper divisors of the amicable pairs found from numbers 1 to 3000? (2) What are the amicable pairs that can be found from numbers 1 to 3000? (3) Identify the type of the amicable pair found from 1 to 3000. The study found three amicable pairs from 1 to 3000.
