The Ladies of Excellence (LOE) is a Christian Sisterhood; founded at what was Oakwood College now University in 1987, by Zandra

Whitlow, Carla Byrd, Kimberlin Carlisle, and Joy Walker. The founders saw the need for sisterhood among Adventist women that will be dedicated to encouraging the mental, spiritual, and social growth of its members, while giving back to the community. Thus they bonded together to form this organization that has since then stood for excellence in its members. As a community service organization the Ladies of Excellence has worked with the Chaplain's Office at Oakwood College to support programs such as Study Buddy, Phone Friend, and Adopt-A-Mile. They have also participated in educational enrichment programs such as Concerned Black Students (CBS). Members can also be found all over Huntsville, Alabama visiting the elderly, feeding the homeless at soup kitchens around town. Ladies of Excellence also host a verity of activities on campus such as worship in the dorms, sake night, fashion shows, breast cancer awareness and annual car wash throughout the year. As a sisterhood the Ladies of Excellence have provided spiritual and personal enrichment to all of its members. All of the members are Christians striving for the Kingdom. Consequently, they often gather together for agape feasts and Bible studies, vespers, AYS and Pray Meetings. In addition, they also have social outings because they recognize the need to spend time with Christian friends. But, the most important part of the sisterhood is the friendships that are formed. These cannot be measured because they are longlasting true relationships. This is something that is very important for all young ladies in college who are faced with the burdens of life. Who we are: Ladies of excellence is an organized sisterhood composed of young women who have united to share their lives and experiences during college. It is both a social and service organization whose members have a common goal which is to promote excellence through Christ in academics and fellowship. Also, assisting young ladies in achieving Christian fellowship, develop trust and dedication. To gain leadership skills; this will prepare each member for service in the community and work force. What we are looking for? The members of ladies of excellence are looking for young and upstanding women with new innovative ideas. _______________________________________________________________________ _
