conservation The types of conservation show how society can affect the state of the environment.

They also demonstrate how individual action can make an impact which can mitigate some of the negative effects of development and pollution.

Water Conservation
Water conservation is likely to take more of a forefront in the years ahead. According to the World Health Organization, over one billion people worldwide do not have access to safe drinking water. In the United States, western states may face their own water crisis due to rising populations and limited availability of treated water. The availability of clean water is affected by pollution. American Rivers estimates that about 40 percent of U.S. rivers and streams are too contaminated for even recreational purposes. Considering that most Americans rely on surface water such as lakes and streams, the need to conserve water is more urgent.

Soil Conservation
The Dust Bowls of 1930 illustrate the dramatic impacts of poor soil management. With the combination of dry, windy conditions, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimates that the impacts lasted up to eight years in some states, resulting in tons of topsoil loss. The loss of topsoil is critical since most of the soil nutrients are found in this soil layer. Soil erosion introduces contaminants and sentiment into aquatic resources, increasing the environmental impact. Today, agricultural practices and land management focus soil conservation as a way to ensure soil nutritional quality and to prevent water pollution.

Wetland Conservation
Since European settlement, the United States has seen dramatic changes in its land cover. According to the U.S. Geological Survey, over half of the wetlands of the contiguous 48 states have been lost. Wetlands provide valuable flood protection as well as habitat for plants and wildlife. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency estimates that one-third of the nation's threatened and endangered species depends strictly on wetlands, making it one of the types of conservation necessary to prevent further environmental losses. Conservation efforts may focus on restoration of wetland habitat through control over invasive species, which can out compete native species for resources. Other methods

include prevention of runoff into wetlands through buffer strips planted adjacent to waterways.

Prairie Conservation
Prairies are one of the most endangered ecosystems in the world. American prairies became the country's agricultural lands. The rich prairie soils provided the ideal environment for agricultural crops. Prairies have seen losses of over 90 percent in some states such as Iowa and Illinois. Like wetlands, prairies provide valuable habitat for plants and wildlife. They can also play a role in conserving other natural resources such as soil.

Energy Conservation
The rising cost of fossil fuels and growing environmental concerns have made energy conservation a top priority with governments and individuals. Energy conservation may be something as simple as turning off the lights when you leave a room. It can also involve more complex solutions such as alternative fuel power plants. The goal of energy conservation is to balance the need for energy with the environmental impact of fulfilling those needs. The types of conservation show that there are ways to protect the environment through the wise use of resources. The conflict between conserving natural resources and development can be resolved with increased awareness of the environment impacts of resource use. In this way, the effects can be minimized.

Three man in a boat:::::::Jerome k. jerome

The book is narrated in the first person by the author, who is refered to as 'J' by his friends. It begins with J, and his friends harris and George, deciding to take a boat trip up the Thames from Kingston to oxford, and then back again (the book was written in 1888, when boating on the Thames was enormously popular). They are unanimous in agreeing that this is a good idea (except for J's dog, Montmorency, who doesn't care for boating). They have trouble getting packed, and in the morning Harris and J take a train to Kingston, where the boat is waiting for them. George is joining them later when he has finished his work at the bank. they row up passt Hampton Court, where Harris describes an incident when he got lost in Hampton Court maze with some friends (this is one of the funniest parts of the book). George joines the party, and they have trouble towing the boat, and later they have even more

trouble trying to put the cover over the boat for the night. they all get fed up with each other, but cheer up when they have a good tea. There is a long passage about the signing of Magna Carta (there are several passages like this in the book, where the author gets serious for a bit). They have various other mishaps as they travel up the river, like the time when they are having tinned pineapple for tea, and can't find the tin-opener. They spend a lot of time trying to open it with no success. And there are stories of other trips they made up the river, like the time J was ou tin a aboat with his cousin, and they thought they were going crazy because they couldn't find Wallingford Lock (it turns out the lock had been demolished some years earlier). And ther ere is the time when they are in an inn which has a stuffed trout in a case on the wall, and several different people come in and claim to have been the one who caught it, but when George stands on a chair to look at it, he knocks it down and it breaks - it turns out to be plaster of Paris! When they reach Oxford, and start to travel bac, it starts to rain, and they aren't enjoying themselves somuch. So they abandon the boat and take the train back to London, where they go to a show and then have a good dinner in a restaurant. They make a toast "Here's to three men well out of a boat!"

Revolution 2020 chetan bhagat

Revolution 2020 is a story about 3 childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti. They have their own ambitions. Aarti wanted to become an air hostess. Raghav gets a rank in IIT-JEE and joins IT BHU. Though he joined in engineering, journalism was his passion and he wanted to bring a change in the country. Gopis only wish is to make lots of money. He couldnt get into IIT in his first attempt. So he joins as a repeater in a coaching centre in Kota, spending the entire savings of his father. But fate offers him an opportunity to start his own engineering college, with the support of Shukla, an MLA. To start the college he follows the corrupt path as he did not have another option. After college Raghav joins as a reporter in a newspaper. His profession creates some problem to Gopi. Shukla, the person behind Gopi, stamps Raghav as much as he can with his political power to get him out of his way. Raghav fights back and starts his own newspaperRevolution 2020!! Both Raghav and Gopi like Aarti. Aarti likes Raghav and Gopi was her best friend. How did the relation between Raghav and Gopi change due to their common love?? Can Raghav achieve what he wanted to with Revolution 2020??

Did the relation between Aarti and Raghav continue in spite of his unsettled and busy career which leaves very little time for her?? How can Gopi become the director of an engineering college without even a college degree?? How far did Gopi go on his path?? Can Gopi compete with Raghav to get Aarti??

These are some parts I think you should know by reading the book.

Chetan Bhagat did a great work here. To tell in one line about his style in this book He first entertains you, grabs your attention and then says what he wants to.
This is an absolute page turner right from the first pagetill the end!!! The ending was really touchy did not expect it. I didnt even expect that the book focuses on the IIT coaching institutes. Most of the story took place in Varanasi except for some part in Kota. This book has many shades. It first showed the chaos that is there through out India in the name of IIT coaching centres. Then it focused on the corruption in private engineering colleges. Even the pollution problems in Varanasi are raised many times. It ended with a message that Everyone should sacrifice a bit for the change they want to see. On the other side it shows how the relation among Gopi, Raghav and Aarti changes dramatically as the story precedes. The story is said from reference to Gopi and the highlight of the book is how relation between Gopi and Aarti developed. Just like his other books even this one has lots of CB trademark one-liners. I liked the way CB described Gopis feelings when he was a repeater in Kota and his feelings towards Aarti even when she is in relation with someone else.
