Are You Smarter Than a God?

Hosts: Apollo and Hestia Contestants: Atalanta, Cassandra, and Midas

(Throughout the skit, each character does something to reveal their character and personality. Hestia acts very motherly and comforting. Apollo acts strict towards the contestants. Atalanta exercises and runs in place. Midas plays with a sack of gold. Cassandra tries to tell others about the prophecy and what future had for them but none of them believe her.) Apollo: Welcome to Are You Smarter than a God? Im your host, Apollo, along with Hestia, and our contestants today will be competing for a chance to win $20,000 for a charity of their choice (Midas groans)!! Our contestants today are Atalanta, Atalanta: Hi everyone! Im Atalanta and I am very famous for racing and hunting. Did you know that it was actually me that killed the Calydonian Boar, not Meleager? Apollo: Midas, Midas: Im a King and an expert in making gold. Apollo: and Cassandra. Cassandra: Apollo: Lets begin... Hestia: Midas, its your turn to choose a topic.

Midas: Life Hestia: What do you need to be successful in life? Midas: You need to be rich. Cassandra: No, you need to be able to tell the future. Atalanta: I know, you need to be good athletically. Apollo: Wrong, all of you. Hestia: The correct answer is to be helpful and nice. Apollo: Atalanta, pick a topic. Atalanta: Greek Mythology. Apollo: Your question is who was the goddess that wished to always be a maiden, not a woman? Atalanta: Cassandra: Midas: Hestia (or Apollo): Hestia: Cassandra, your turn to choose a topic. Cassandra: Life, again. Hestia: What is the base of all life?

Cassandra: Prophecy! Midas: Gold! Atalanta: -en apples. (with dreamy look) Apollo: Wrong, all of you. The correct answer is, the SUN!!! Hestia: Im sorry, Apollo. As much as you love the Sun, the base of all life is Mother Earth and Uranus. Midas, choose the next topic. Midas: Greek Mythology. Apollo: Your question is How did Odysseus escape Scylla and Charybdis? Atalanta: He ran away...uh... really quickly! Midas: Thats not even possible, Atalanta. Odysseus obviously bribed them using gold. Duh. Cassandra: Pfft. Its extremely obvious that Odysseus impressed the two beasts with his future-telling skills. They were so impressed, they let him pass. Apollo: You are all incorrect. The correct answer is that Odysseus sailed his ship closer to Scylla, sacrificing six men, but avoided Charybdis. (Everyone else shows signs of disagreement) Hestia: Lets not get into a fight Atalanta, your turn again. Atalanta: Greek Mythology.

Apollo: Your question is Which god played the most helpful part in Odysseus return to Ithaca? Midas: Thats easy. Hades, the god of wealth. Atalanta: I think... Artemis, since shes a swift runner and probably helped Odysseus ship go faster. Cassandra: Even though I hate to say this because he cursed me so no one would believe my prophecies, Apollo would definitely be the one. Hes the god of prophecy. Apollo: The correct answer is Athena. She guided Odysseus along his journey. She helped plan to kill all of Penelopes wooers. Cassandra, your choice Cassandra: Gods/Goddesses Apollo: Your question is What happened when Apollo tried to pursue Daphne? Wait... Hestia, why did you make this question about me?! Hestia: It doesnt matter, Apollo. Dont get into a big fuss. Atalanta, Midas, and Cassandra: Her father Peneus turned her into a laurel tree to escape from Apollo. Hestia: Very good, all of you! Atalanta: We learned it in the newspaper, in the sports section. Hestia: You are all correct. You will all receive one point. Midas, your choice.

Midas: Golden Mythical Food Hestia: Your question is Where do Golden Apples come from? Atalanta: Hippomenes... Midas: Cassandra: Hestia: Apollo, do you think we should give it to her? Hippomenes did give her Golden Apples... Apollo: I dont know...Why not? The score is tied. Hestia: Congratulations, Atalanta! You got the correct answer! Apollo: Atalanta, your choice. Atalanta: Greek Mythology Fables. Apollo: Your question isWho made it known that King Midas had donkeys ears? Midas: My barber... Atalanta: I dont know... Cassandra: Hestia: Ok, Cassandra, coming back to you. Cassandra: Mythological Sports

Hestia: How did Hippomenes win Atalanta's footrace? Midas: He threw huge gold coins in front of her to distract her. Cassandra: Maybe he could tell the future and already knew that he would win, so he didn't do a thing. Atalanta: Wrong, wrong, wrong!! He threw golden apples in front of me to distract me...oh, how I love golden apples! (daydreams) Apollo: That is correct. Hippomenes had thrown the apples in front of Atalanta to distract her and that is how he won. Another point for Atalanta. Cassandra Cassandra: Well Apollo: What is the next question going to be? Cassandra: Prophecy Hestia: Sorry, no, we cannot Apollo: Thats impossible! Midas: Atalanta:
