Members of Animal Aid USA will join volunteers with the Chow Hounds Food Distribution Project and the Animal Orphanage June 8th to deliver donated pet food to the Brimm Medical Arts High School in Camden. Voorhees Animal Orphanage is hosting the "Distribution Day" event on behalf of Brimms Chow Hounds, a food bank established and operated entirely by Brimm Medical Arts High School students, in partnership with Camden City's Animal Control Officers and the University of Pennsylvania's School of Veterinary Medicine. The event will combine the efforts of animal welfare organizations and animal lovers from all across New Jersey to help feed pets belonging to Camden residents. Many pallets of pet food were donated to the Chow Hounds event through Steve Dash of the Humane Society of Atlantic County through the American Humane Association. The pallets were picked up and transported by Mark Piscitelli of Philadelphia Truck Lines, who donated his time and the use of the truck. Prince Lorenzo Borghese, co-founder of Animal Aid USA, will be driving the iconic Animal Aid Amazing Grace bus, loaded with donated pet food which will be handed out to Camden pet owners. Pets Without Vets Founder and CEO Robin Brennen DVM will be on hand for an Ask the Doc question-and-answer session from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., sponsored by Guardians of Rescue animal rights and welfare organization. The mission of the Guardians of Rescue is to facilitate and foster programs and activities that further the uniquely symbiotic and therapeutic benefits of interaction between people and animals. The Guardians of Rescue is all about compassionate action, people helping animals and animals helping people. At its core, the Guardians of Rescue is an animal rights and welfare organization whose members work to protect the well-being of all animals and their owners, and come to the aid of those in distress. Dr. Marvin Baynes of South Jersey Mobile Vets will be on hand with his mobile clinic to administer rabies shots at no cost to pet owners on a first come, first served basis. Making of Miracle Stories (MOMS) volunteers will also be on hand to help with food distribution. Animal Aid co-founder Karen Talbot says the Distribution Day even is an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the suffering that homeless and abandoned pets experience. "By providing the education, awareness and resources, we are empowering people to make change in their world for shelter animals," Talbot says.

Voorhees Animal Orphanage Director Christine Todd says the Chow Hounds Food Distribution Project is right in step with the animal orphanages focus as a no-kill shelter working to help area families with food, medical care and supplies for their pets. We take in between 1,500 and 2,000 animals a year and provide food, and medical care until permanent loving homes can be found, Todd says. We are proud to be part of the Chow Hounds project and we see it as a great way to reach more people who love their pets and may need a little extra help caring for them.
