Introduction

Concept The application CMETA is a consulting application to describe the contents of, possibly various versions of, DB2/Oracle tables and who is responsible for them. Comment Consulting application: The description of the contents in the META system originates from the design tools of data management. The management of the documentation regarding DB2/Oracle tables occurs in the design tools (formerly Cayenne and now more and more Mega) The documentation is loaded in the application META data. Within the application it is possible to consult the documentation online and to print it. Description of the contents: Technical information cannot be found unless it is generally useful for making a program. This includes: primary key information, foreign key information, indexes, and characteristics of columns. Various versions: The META system shows for which DB2 month extracts historical situations are archived. At the level of data groups, the changes between the various versions can be called up. DB2/Oracle tables: Documentation about non-DB2/Oracle data groups cannot be found in the system META data. In respect of the C-platform, this documentation can be found in SDADF for IMS databases and SPITAB tables. Target group The META data system provides information that is required in the framework of the work of ICT staff and end users who set up applications in respect of DB2/Oracle tables. Application manager Hans Vandevelde (016/86.20.41)

Versions of data models Introduction Extract tables are sometimes kept for several years. In the course of time, modifications may be made to these tables, due to which various versions come about. After x number of modifications, it must still be possible to consult the description of all versions. This is necessary to always unambiguously retrieve the meaning of the data used in the applications. Concept Within data modelling and META, version management occurs at the level of data group and type. Due to a modification within a data group, the version number of all the other tables within the data group changes. A modification of a data group can be: - the addition or removal of 1 or several tables - the addition or removal of 1 or several columns of 1 or several tables - the basic modification of the description of 1 or several columns of 1 or several tables - the addition/removal/modification of primary keys, foreign keys and indexes Example Within the data group XYZ, there are the month extract tables CEVXYZ01, CEVXYZ02 and CEVXYZ03. Initially all the tables have version number 01 and these are found in stage P (production). Table CEVXYZ02 receives an additional column. The 02 version of the tables goes through the stages T (test), K (accept) and finally P (production). The 01 version of the tables CEVXYZ01, CEVXYZ02 and CEVXYZ03 becomes history information the moment that version 02 enters production.

Starting up The application is started up by entering the command Cmeta in TSO. One time you must set a number of identification data as user: - for ICT: under TSO procedure U..4 - for end users: under TSO procedure 20 Execute point 1 first to retrieve information from your RACF profile. Execute then point 2 to temporarily change language code, company number, building and location. Execute then point 3 to permanently change building and entity.

Function keys Below you will find the main function keys: F key F2 F3 F7 F8 F9 F10 Result split screen to previous screen browse backward browse forward Swap after a split screen Print overview or description see Printing

Printing Introduction From all the screens (except for the selection screen) it is possible to print the displayed overview/description via F10. Screen

Parameters Standards: PRINTER PRINT NR COPIES RECTO/VERSO HOLD NIGHT CLASS VNS NUMBER = = = = = = = 2 the number of your local printer 1 N N N before 15.00 hrs, Y after 15.00 hrs the number of the desired company

When starting up META, these values are each time displayed again. Within 1 session of META, the earlier entered values are saved. Result Due to technical reasons, the layout of the output may differ from the layout on the screen. As regards the contents, however, the same information is always displayed.

Selection screen Introduction This is the first screen of the TSO application META. Via this screen it is possible to select the various procedures by entering the corresponding procedure number. Screen
