Characteristics Density Voltage Across Cable Melting Point Resistance M1 Low density M3 High M2 Light so it is easily handle M4 Reduce current // reduce power / energy loss M6 Wire will not melt easily

M5 High M7 Low

M8 Reduce power / energy loss

(ii)

M9

The most suitable is J

M10 Because it has Low density , High Voltage Across Cable , High Melting Point and Low Resistance c) (i) P = VI Bulb 1 I = 6W/6V I = 1A Bulb 2 I = 12W/6V I = 2A I through the ammeter = (2+1)A = 3A (ii) E loss = VIt E loss = 6V x 1A x 20s = 120 Joule Total ...........1M Substitution ...........1M Answer + unit 20 marks ...........1M Answer + unit ...........1M Methode / Substitution ...........1M Answer

Inference : The brightness of the bulb IS AFFECTED BY the thickness of wire *** from now on students are STRICTLY NOT ENCOURAGE to use the term depends on starting SPM 11

(b) (c)

M8

Set up apparatus as shown above Connect a constantant wire with s.w.g 20 at point X and Y OR Measure thickness of a constantan wire as 1.00 mm by using a micrometer screw gauge. Connect the constantant wire at point X and Y in the circuit.

M9

Turn on the switch. Adjust the rheostat until the reading of ammeter is 0.5A. Record the voltmeter reading . Calculate the resistance by using formula V=IR

M10

Repeat the step above for wire with s.w.g 20,22,24,26,28,30 OR 2.00 mm, 3.00 mm ,4.00 mm dan 5.00 mm )
