Hypothesis : The thicker the wire the lower the resistance of the wire Aim : To study the relationship between the thickness of wire and the resistance
of the wire M4 Manipulater Variable : thickness OF WIRE ( WAJIB starting SPM 11 ) Responding Variable M5 Fixed variable : Length // Type // Temperature OF WIRE ( WAJIB starting SPM 11 ) M6 Apparatus & materials : ( @ diagram berlabel) 1. Constantant wire
M8
Set up apparatus as shown above Connect a constantant wire with s.w.g 20 at point X and Y OR Measure thickness of a constantan wire as 1.00 mm by using a micrometer screw gauge. Connect the constantant wire at point X and Y in the circuit.
M9
Turn on the switch. Adjust the rheostat until the reading of ammeter is 0.5A. Record the voltmeter reading . Calculate the resistance by using formula V=IR
M10
Repeat the step above for wire with s.w.g 20,22,24,26,28,30 OR 2.00 mm, 3.00 mm ,4.00 mm dan 5.00 mm )
