SELECT 3 LETTERS FROM
SUCCESS?
 SUCCESS contains 7 letters. Here we have
CC, SSS thus we have actually 4 letters
only (as C & S are repeated.
 We have a possibility that we take only sss.
(1 option). We have a possibility that we
take 2 C and three other digits : 3c3 =1. we
have a possibility that we take 2 C & 2 S.
We have 3c2*2c2 = 3
 We have a possibility that we take 1 letter
from all four (any 3) 4c3 = 4. Thus total
possibilities are 4+3+1+1 = 9 answer.

How many five digit positive integers
have the product of their digits equal
to 2000?
 We know that in order to get 2000, we have to find
factors of 2000. factors of 2000 are: 2*5*2*5*2*5*2
 Thus the possible numbers can be numbers like :
28555, 25558, 85552, 25855 etc. We know that we
have to have 3 five and 4 two. Thus the possibilities
are 2,8, 5^3 or 4^2 *5^3. thus with all these
possibilities, we have to find all permutations. For
first digit we have 4 options (2,4,8,5), but next we
have reducing options. Let us solve it differently.
 (2,8,5,5,5,): 5! / 3! = 120/6 = 20.
 (4,4,5,5,5,): 5! / (3! * 2!) = 10
 = 20 +10 = 30 answer.

you find which satisfy the condition
X^2 = 14 + Y^2 ?
X ^2 – Y^2 = 14
 (X+Y) (X-Y) = 14.
 X+Y and X-Y may be 7 & 2 or 14 * 1 X+Y
=7
 X-Y = 2. putting these together, we get
2X = 9 or X = 4.5 (which doesn’t fullfill
our condition).
 Thus we cant find any such solution.

A car travels at 50 for first half of
journey and reduces the speed by
half subsequently for remaining half
each time. What is its average speed
in entire journey?
 Average speed = total distance / total time
 Speed = 50, 25, 12.5, 6.25 and so on.
 Let us assume that total time taken is T.
 Distance = speed * time.
 Distance = 50 *T/2 + 25 *T/4 +12.5 *T/8 …. So on.
 Thus we have an infinite series.
 Total of the series = A / 1-r = 50T/2 (3/4)
 =33.3 T
 Thus answer is 33.3T/ T = 33 answer .

We have different rates in our
restaurant. If there are 200 persons,
we charge Rs. 165 per person. If
there are 150 persons, we charge
170 per person. What would be the
charge if there are 100 persons?

X + 150 Y = 170*150
 X + 200Y = 165*200

 50 Y = 7500 or Y = 150.; X will be 3000


thus when there will be 100 persons,
 = 3000+150*100 = 18000/100 = 180
answer.

 Ratio is ¼ thus, the solution is 25T / (1-
